Sliding notes

Sliding notes (not to be confused with Slide Guitar) is one way of getting from one note to another on the fretboard. Obviously, you can do this on one string at a time, and you must keep firm contact with the fretbaord as you do the sliding action. What actually happens is that you hear each note in between the start and end note, as the finger encounters the frets in passing. If you listen carefully, you can hear the semitone increments. The faster you do the sliding, of course, the less you hear the individual steps.

You can also slide whole chord shapes up and down the fretboard.

In the little movie example, I play a one note slide to start the line off with, then on the next string, I slide an interval of a major third (5 semitones), then slide back down to the same distance.
