Pull offs

A 'pull off' the opposite of hammering on. Where hammering on is going up in pitch, pulling off is going down in pitch, and your fretboard finger must already be holding down the next note(s). The action is a kind of sideways pulling twang and release from the finger holding down the first note. When enough twang is applied, the string vibrates as the new (already fretted) note.

The movie shows a one-fret pull-off, then a two fret pull-off to an open string. Then I do the same three notes as one triple pull off.

These hammer on/pull offs become second nature very quickly with a little practice, and really come in handy.
