8th note triplets.

How does one play an 8th note triplet over two 8th notes?
How does one play four 16th notes over an 8th note triplet?
Recently I've taken on the complexity of Chopin's Nocturne Opus 72., No. 1. And my music theory class never taught me to play these types of notes together.

To play 2 eighth notes in the time of an eighth note triplet:
Mentally divide the triplet into six smaller notes.
(1) & 2 (&) 3 &
The Eigthth notes are played on the bracketed beats (1) and (&),
which means the The second eighth note is played exactly half way between the second and third notes of the triplet.

To play 4 sixteenth notes in the time of an eighth note triplet:
Mentally divide the triplet into 12 smaller notes
(1) e & (a) 2 e (&) a 3 (e) & a
The sixteenth notes are played on the bracketed beats (1) (a) (&) and (e)

Holy Moly--eights are hard enough-now you want me to divide them down by six or more?

The GfB&B Guitar Slide Rule

Download the PDF of the 'Guitar Chord Slide Rule', print it out, fold it together and you'll have at your disposal a very neat tool that will not only show you all the positions for the main flavors of chords, but will also teach you a very important lesson about how the guitar works... It consists of a folded sleeve and six double sided inserts, instructions for cutting it out and folding it together are included with the PDF ... it's very simple to do, and if you botch it, you can simply print it out again!

Buy it now for only $10
