Hey 'whatever', i'll answer your stupid question. It means don't play the string. Either mute it by resting your finger against the string so it won't make a sound when you strum it, or just miss it out all together, yeah? SORTED.

Hi whatever
0 means play that string "open"......ie, strike the string but don't fret it. Just in case........the 1 means you put your finger on the 1st fret of that string and 2 means you put your finger on the 2nd fret of that string.

Les is right about Tabs. I can't play a song from a tab. But I can't listen to a song and play it either. However Guitar Pro (and the free Powertab I think) put tempo and tab togeather to make it possible to pick up the feel for a song. GP is the main thing that's go me going from ground zero on the guitar. Of course there are other ways, like a good teacher.

I agree--wothout a music trac to play along with-I can't play "crap" from tabs alone.pardon my language but it really is that bad. Mostly i play from music , usually piano sheet with the the guitar chord names penceled above the measures, someof this comes from originally learning by playing the so called "easy play" music form, thank god that a few years before i tried to learn guitar, I spent about two years self learning to play keyboards--knowing the basics about "piano" helped me learn chord structure basics and some elementary music theory--I strongly recommend a bit of time on a piano or keyboard as a help to learning.

You should find some lessons about chords and stop asking silly questions.

The GfB&B Guitar Slide Rule
Download the PDF of the 'Guitar Chord Slide Rule', print it out, fold it together and you'll have at your disposal a very neat tool that will not only show you all the positions for the main flavors of chords, but will also teach you a very important lesson about how the guitar works... It consists of a folded sleeve and six double sided inserts, instructions for cutting it out and folding it together are included with the PDF ... it's very simple to do, and if you botch it, you can simply print it out again!
