Mis-Guided Youth

Here is a song I wrote while watching my son riding his , got me thinking wouldn't it be nice to get on a bike and ride , do all that crazy stuff kids do on their bikes , it has a little twist in it towards the end . ( reality )

I call it

Mis-Guided Youth

Legs are thumping
Heart is pumping
Sweat running down my brow

Whizzing in and out cars
I 'm travelling pretty fast
There's no speed limit for me now

Dodging the walkers
Abusing the talkers
Ain't got time to get in a row <----like a arguement pronounced row rhymes with now

Legs are thumping
Heart is pumping
Sweat running down my brow

I had to jump a gutter
Heart starts to flutter
Don't you even try to slow me down

I see the coppers ahead
One is shaking his head
My happiness turns to a frown

They are going to book me
Who is going to believe me
Why can't you all just leave me alone

Legs no longer pumping
But the heart is thumping
I was just re-living my youth

======================
All feed back is greatly appreciated

Thumbs up

Hey Hich,
That was real good. Nice rhythm, good rhymes, flows pretty good just the way it is, although maybe a few tweaks would make it even better. I miss riding a bike like I did when I was a kid also, so I could really relate to it. I'd like to hear the melody with it. Any chance of that any time soon?
Keep up the good work,
Frank

Hey Feri52

Yeah working on it just trying to find the right chord progression I don't know too many chords so I am just playing around with the ones I do know . I thinking of a real up tempo sort of thing . Any thoughts ? when you read it does come over as a slow song or a up tempo thing ?

Thanks for the feed back appreciated very much

MM not real happy with it now after working on music for it so I added a bridge the rest of the song stays the same only addition is th bridge I'll put it in red for everyone

I had to jump a gutter
Heart starts to flutter
Don't you even try to slow me down

Bridge

Child inside
Keeps me alive
I just want to ride
Ride ride ride...

I see the coppers ahead
One is shaking his head
My happiness turns to a frown

===============

Now it will break the main song up a bit with a different chord progression ( hope that makes sense .. will post it soon still working on it

Here are the related chords of three keys, hilch. Keys are families of notes/chords, so they naturaly go well together. The I is the main one of course, everything should start and end there:

------- I - ii - iii -IV- V - vi

C ----> C - Dm - Em - F - G - Am
D ----> D - Em - F#m - G - A - Bm
G ----> G - Am - Bm - C - D - Em

... hope you can decypher my rather crude chart. Those are for the keys of C, D and G. Read horizontally for each. Stick to one key, of course. You'll hear how the three majors are the backbone, the minors can all come nicely into play.

Thanks Kirk

I have probably dodging chords such as Bm and F and F#m for far too long , might just be time to bite the bullet , I can play them I just find it difficult to find them in the middle of a song . I'll go and practice them more often and see what I can come up with ..

Thanks again

Hi Hilch,
I agree that it should be up tempo; that's how I hear it in my head. Don't worry about knowing a lot of chords. Many great songs were written with just a few simple chords, chords you probably already know.
Regards,
Frank
