Reading music

I know pretty much the basics of reading music, but I need some tips on getting better at recognizing notes. If you have any links or advice that would be great.

After you've looked here first: http://www.guitarforbeginners.com/music.html

You could try the following sites: http://www.zentao.com/guitar/theory/

and here: http://johncomino.tripod.com/

and finally here: http://www.theorylessons.com/index.html

Hope these help!

William,

I learned this little trick when taking piano lessons.....

On the Treble staff .... FACE
--------------------------
E
--------------------------
C
--------------------------
A
--------------------------
F
--------------------------

and on the Bass staff

"George Eats Candy Apples
--------------------------
A
--------------------------
C
--------------------------
E
--------------------------
G
--------------------------

Hey Les
That reminds me of my early days when I was learning the clarinet.

F A C E for the space notes
and
Every Good Boy Deserves Fruit for the lines

That's what my teacher used to drum into me anyway.

The notes in the spaces on the bass clef are the other way around.

"All Cows Eat Grass"
--------------------------
G
--------------------------
E
--------------------------
C
--------------------------
A
--------------------------
When using acronyms to remember the notes, always go from the bottom up to save confusion.

The treble clef is correct : F A C E for the spaces & Every Good Boy Deserves Fruit for the lines.

An easy way to remember the notes on the lines of the bass clef is to adjust & extend the treble acronym:
Good Boys Deserve Fruit Always.
