Bass Tabs

I downloaded the bass tabs to My Sharona for my daughter as she is learning this with her guitar teacher. Above the tabs, there is a series of e's and q's.The e's are lower case and the q's are both lower case and upper case. There is one q+, but that may be a typo. What does the e and q stand for?

Thanks.

I reckon they are most likely quarter or eighth notes. The plus may indicate a dotted note. ( a note plus half it`s value.)

That makes sense Will. My mind went blank. What would be the difference between "q and Q"?

Thanks.

Hi Annette

The + = a tie and the capitals designate a dotted note. I am assuming that you got the tab from Ultimate Guitar and if you look at each measure, the ones with the "capitals" do not have 4 beats they are an eight note short because the quarter note that is capitalized is dotted.

The GfB&B Guitar Slide Rule

Download the PDF of the 'Guitar Chord Slide Rule', print it out, fold it together and you'll have at your disposal a very neat tool that will not only show you all the positions for the main flavors of chords, but will also teach you a very important lesson about how the guitar works... It consists of a folded sleeve and six double sided inserts, instructions for cutting it out and folding it together are included with the PDF ... it's very simple to do, and if you botch it, you can simply print it out again!
