Asturias-Leyenda

Decided to teach myself this piece. However, I don't read music and have found two different tabs for it at classtab.org.

YouTube - Angel Romero - Leyenda

Now, the first 22 sec or so are pretty easy. Got those down, no prob.

Then it gets more difficult, and I can't seem to determine how it's played on the first two strings. The two tabs look like this:

Quote:

e|-----7-----7-----7-----7------7
b|--0-----0-----0-----0-----0----
Quote:

e|--7-----7-----7-----7-----7--
b|--0-----0-----0-----0-----0----
Not sure if it alternates, or the notes are played simultaneously. The second one would be easier, but the first one seems like it would be more awesome to be able to do. Anyway, if anybody can play this.. um, help.

Here're the tabs I'm going by:

http://classtab.org/iaasturz.txt

(both tabs on that page. Scroll down for the second one.)

Nice piece ethic to stretch that left hand as you go further in the piece. Hope you get it down ok. Sometimes I actually use a program to freeze the frame and take a photo when the tab isn't enough. Good luck!

Those two notes are played separately Ethic.

Super! Totally thanks for replying!

Aw, dude, man, that's going to be more difficult. Been practicing
it that way, anyway; I figure it'll get me better. I can do it about
1/2 the speed as I can do the previous parts. Hope it gets faster.

Here's something that confuses me, though. It was originally a piano
piece, right? It seems weird that it was arranged that way. I mean...

look:

Quote:
e|-----7-------7-----7-----7------7
b|--0-------0-----0-----0-----0----
g|------4-----5-
That would be two B notes; you know, in unison (the 4 and the 0);
and wouldn't that be impossible on a piano?

Hi Ethic
No - Those 2 B notes are an octave apart - not unisons. No problem on piano (although I've never heard it played on piano).

BTW you might be better off looking at the version Witchy Woman suggested.
I haven't checked it myself, but there is a much easier version around in A minor, which sounds very effective. It might be that one.

Edit - Ah, I see what you mean - on the 3rd and 2nd strings. Right, that would be impossible on a piano. I don't know how it was originally done on piano.

I've fiddled around with that piece as well, and I'm at the same place- once it starts with the "doubling" my fingers refuse to cooperate. I think this would likely be a bit easier to play on a classical guitar.
