Tekker's Lessons! - New lesson forum
Great news this week!
New Forum - Tekker's Lessons
Tekker aka Sean has been kind enough to agree to impart some of his knowledge and add some lessons/articles here on the forum. Most of you would already be aware that Neilsonite has his own forum down in the Lessons forum, but we now have opened a new forum called " Member's Guitar Lessons" - that's where you will now be able to find Neilsonite's lessons along with our newest lesson contributor Tekker and his forum " Tekker's Lessons".
Tekker is a relatively new member here but has been very generous with his time in answering posts, so he seemed an obvious choice for us to ask to contribute in our new Member's Guitar Lessons forum.
A big thanks to Tekker for his contribution!
Tekker's topics so far include:
Thanks Tekker!!
Clancy
All members, please note: - All announcements in the "What's Going On" forum can now be replied to by all members. We want your feedback so we have opened up this forum for replies.

Congratulations Sean and thanks for agreeing to put in some extra time here at the forum. It's much appreciated.
I've had a quick look at the initial lessons and there's some great stuff in there.

It's all good! Thankyou to Sean for your contribution and to Clancy and Kirk for making this opportunity available to all of us.

Excellent, I'm really looking forward to these!
I've already checked out the chord substitution section, which gave me ideas straight away. Nicely laid out and easy to understand, Good work!
I'm waiting with anticipation on the recording lessons as this side of things is really starting to grab me, bring 'em on and thank you very much

Good work, Sean. Thanks so much for putting in the time to do this for us, it's a huge asset to the site. I've been reading through it all and learned a whole lot already; you have a way with words. All my knowledge has come to me through years of playing, listening, experimenting and asking questions of other musicians, most of whom were also self taught, so it's great to get this detailed version from someone who has had formal training.
Thanks again for helping to make this site the best guitar resource on the Internet!

Thanks a lot guys! I'm glad you're enjoying them.
OldG,
What kind of recording lessons would you like to see? I'll start a thread in the discussion forum, so let me know and I'll get started on the recording stuff next.
Kirk,
I took a year of music theory at a community college, but that was it as far a formal training and I did know some theory already going into it. A lot of it I learned online and also by trying to explain theory and answer questions on Marc Seal's forum. When I would get stuck on something I would sit down at the keyboard and try to figure it out, or if needed look it up online and re-write it in simpler terms and then give some examples. I think trying to explain theory in my own words has helped me understand it a lot better.

The GfB&B Guitar Slide Rule
Download the PDF of the 'Guitar Chord Slide Rule', print it out, fold it together and you'll have at your disposal a very neat tool that will not only show you all the positions for the main flavors of chords, but will also teach you a very important lesson about how the guitar works... It consists of a folded sleeve and six double sided inserts, instructions for cutting it out and folding it together are included with the PDF ... it's very simple to do, and if you botch it, you can simply print it out again!
