Kirk's Brisbane gigs ...

I thought I'd mention to any Brisbaners here that I'm part of 'The Smokin Crawdads' at the Ekka tonight (Thursday) and Sunday night. I've done twice before and it's good fun.

For those who are wondering, 'What the hell is the Ekka?', it's Brisbane's yearly 'show', 'fair' ... 'expo' ... how else can I put it? It takes place over a week or so at the Brisbane Show Royal Grounds (the Ekka ... short, I think, for 'exhibition' ... aussies do love to shorten those big words).

The Smokin Crawdads are:

Mick Martin, a fantastic guitarist, the best I've ever shared a stage with.
Andy Tainsch on bass, great player and a true gentleman.
Kerry Jacobsen on drums, played with Dragon, Mondo Rock, Ian Moss ... you name 'em.
Randal Terrens on keyboards ... I'm not sure if he's going to be there or not.
Me on slide.

We all sing, Mick does most of it.

We're at the Stockmans Tavern, 8 til midnight, surrounded by hay bales and horse shoes ... we play everything from country to blues to rock and back.

Naturally, if you do come, make sure you say hi!

Any chance for a webcast?

Wish I could be there!

Webcast? Coming soon, no doubt! I may try and record some of the next show with my little mp3 player. The venue, which is semi-outdoors, isn't really ideal, but it may work.

We had fun last night ... it started out pretty quiet, but was rockin' at the end.

Kirk curious to know if over the christmas period whether you have any dates lined up, do you ever venture over the border into Northern NSW ? Saw that you lived once in Ocean Shores, thought you may have or still play places like the Brunswick Heads pub, The Pacific or the bowling club in in Yamba.

The GfB&B Guitar Slide Rule

Download the PDF of the 'Guitar Chord Slide Rule', print it out, fold it together and you'll have at your disposal a very neat tool that will not only show you all the positions for the main flavors of chords, but will also teach you a very important lesson about how the guitar works... It consists of a folded sleeve and six double sided inserts, instructions for cutting it out and folding it together are included with the PDF ... it's very simple to do, and if you botch it, you can simply print it out again!

Buy it now for only $10
