New beginners lesson - Changing Chords

I just loaded up a movie lesson on changing chords, probably the most difficult thing to do when you're just starting out. It's a 10 Mb download, so be patient!

Perfect timing. Something newer players can handle.

Great ... you like it!

I've been trying to come up with some real beginners' lessons -- since we are called Guitar for Beginners dot Com -- trying to remember what it's like to hold a guitar for the first time. I called my old friend, incredible player (do yourself a favor and listen to 'Rollin Tumblin' -- you won't hear better than this) and great teacher 'Sharky', aka 'Lightning Boy' on this forum, the other day to ask his advice. He suggested I pick up my guitar left handed and see how it feels, which I did. !!!

Thanks, Sharky! Now I remember

I'll continue with more of them.

  thank you Mr. Lorange

I'd just like to say thank you for this lesson.

I got a guitar for Christmas.

I'm almost 40, don't read music, and don't play any sort of instrument.. yet.

this lesson is what i've been hunting for for the past few weeks.

I love the lessons you already have, but I haven't reached most of them yet. this one is for me. thanks.

jw

i do plan on getting your dvd, but don't think i've reached that yet either.

I'm very sure those sort of lessons are going to be very popular with the absolute beginners. Good move Kirk.

Just given your friend Lightning Boy a 'hot' vote on soundclick. Great stuff

Excellent stuff, Kirk. I'm really glad to see this and more when you have the time. I know it will be much appreciated. btw, nice ruts in the fingertips!

And wow, you actually own a plectrum!

The GfB&B Guitar Slide Rule

Download the PDF of the 'Guitar Chord Slide Rule', print it out, fold it together and you'll have at your disposal a very neat tool that will not only show you all the positions for the main flavors of chords, but will also teach you a very important lesson about how the guitar works... It consists of a folded sleeve and six double sided inserts, instructions for cutting it out and folding it together are included with the PDF ... it's very simple to do, and if you botch it, you can simply print it out again!
