Hi Steve,

Many thanks for this. I'm currently selling my acoustics to buy a better model with better action! ;)

Cheers

Hi Eddie,

Quality is great.. Did you just use 1 mic positioned at the body?

Well, I don't know the tune to play it. But I just watched Mark Knopfler play it via YouTube and he's only barring those strings that he needs to barre, rather than trying to barre across all of them. If that helps.

Hi Steve,

Thanks for the reply! :)

However, to play this song Mark mostly finger picks all but the thick E string so he barre's the rest.

I watched a tutorial on barre technique on youtube last night which was great, however I tried and my notes still sound like they are about to collapse :(

What are your views on the grip master hand/finger strengthener?

Cheers

Hey everyone,

I have been playing for about a year or so, on and off. I know where and what shapes to play barre's in, however.. I've just learned "Romeo & Juliet" by Dire Straits (Open G tuning and capo on the 3rd).

I thought I could play barre's pretty well until I started to learn this.

Can you offer any advise in regards to barre technique?

I'm finding barring extremely difficult with this song and not a lot of my notes are clear without nearly snapping the neck on my washburn acoustic (poor thing!) haha

Cheers all
JD
