Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy - New Fingerstyle Lesson

Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy - New Fingerstyle Lesson

I'm so pleased Clancy suggested this to me last week. What a great stroke of genius from Tchaikovsky this wonderful tune is, and what a neat arrangement I found for it, a very clean and simple piano arrangement by someone called Andy Fling. I contacted him and he said OK to me using it for a lesson here at GfB&B. I transcribed it for guitar, only had to change one little section to keep from going up past the 12th fret, and it's all up and running at the link below. Not only that, it's free too.

Challenging, but a whole lot of fun, and you have plenty of time before Christmas to master it.

Hope you like it.

PlaneTalk -- New package, new price.

20 June 2013 - 06:16 PM

Times being what they are and money being tight as it is, I've decided to offer a cut-down PlaneTalk package. It consists of the main elements, namely the Book, the DVD and the Slide Rule. This is in fact the original package.

What's missing is the Private PlaneTalkers' Forum and the 16 (18 now) bonus lessons that are accessed from the forum.

This is the nuts and bolts of PlaneTalk. If you decide at a later date to join the forum and gain access to me and other PlaneTalkers, a wealth of pertinent information (like 24,132 posts) and the 18 bonus lessons (way over 2 hours of video), you can do so for $30.

How much? $60 + $15 Shipping

I'm sure you know by now what PlaneTalk is and why you should order it, but if you don't, drop into the re-vamped site and learn all about it. Be sure to read the many testimonials.

You can order your package from here!

Lick # 9 pull-offs, hammer-ons, slide-ups.

29 May 2013 - 08:51 PM

Free Lick # 9 - Licks à Lorange – pull-offs, hammer-ons, slide-ups.

And another that rolls right off the fingertips — after some practice, that is. This one is moveable and has all kinds of detail: pull-offs, hammer-ons, slide-ups. It looks and sounds complex when you first hear it, but it’s not. It’s just another lick that needs to be worked out, run through slowly and brought up to speed once you’re sure you have it right. One of the worst things you can do — and a common mistake — is to work things out too quickly, miss a couple of important details in haste, and practice up something that’s not quite right.

Lick # 8 Jazzy Blues

29 May 2013 - 08:46 PM

Free Lick # 8 - Licks à Lorange - Jazzy Blues

This is a fun one, rolls right off the finger tips once you get it down. It’s moveable, so it’s a good one to remember.

This one is a good example of how the Chromatic scale — which is all notescan be used to link up scale notes and chord tones. They’re often called ‘passing tones’ because you pass through them on the way to scale notes.
