  Auld Lang Syne Video Problems

The top video in the lesson is not loading up for me, the bottom one is fine.

Update: This may be a Firefox issue, I loaded the page into IE7 and it worked fine. The other lessons still work for me in Firefox. Possibly because there are two videos embedded it's causing an issue?

Thanks for the heads up Wayne. The problem was that the second movie was autostarting and causing problems with the top viedeo.

I've just attached the second movie instead of embedding it. It should all work now.

Cheers

Clancy

Hmm, it's not for me either. I'll look at it tomorrow. Meanwhile just use Explorer or download the movie attachment.

Hi. I am also having difficulty with the main (top) display when using Firefox. It will play when right clicking the black display box and clicking on "play", but does not center/display properly.
Works fine with IE. I wonder if it is because I just upgraded this week to Firefox 2.0.0.1 (most recent upgrade notification)???
Thanks for researching this.
Joe

I think I've tracked down the problem... it's also affecting a few other lessons too. It seems the movies were saved at 640x480 instead of 320x240 and that's what is causing the problem. We'll fix the other movies with the same problem over the next couple of days. I've fixed the Auld Lang Syne one, so that should be working now in all versions of FF... Let me know if it isn't.

Until then, just download the attachment or use IE.

Cheers

Ok, Kirk and I have gone through all the lessons and resized the newer ones that needed resizing so that they can be seen embedded in Firefox.

The problem was with Windows Media Player 11 and Firefox and the video sizes.

You will notice that some of the older lessons with videos are now shown in a smaller video format like the example below as they were originally saved at a smaller size. I have now also added a link underneath all the movies so that the movie can be opened in Windows Media Player directly as well as having it playing in the embedded page... you can then resize it there.

If anyone is having any issue with the viewing of the movies, please let me know... and if you could also include your operating system, the browser version and the Windows Media Player version you are using that would be a great help.

Cheers

Clancy

Well if you have your external player showing the movie at say 200% the picture quality will look worse... The older movies were saved to a smaller file size and weren't nearly as clear as the newer ones, so maybe that's what is causing the confusion.
