Spell chexker
As requested we have now installed a built-in (cross browser) spell checker. I have tested it in Firefox and IE and it works well. It apparently also works on Mozilla/Netscape, Opera and Konqueror (Safari is unconfirmed).
To use just click on the ABC button...(Circled in red on image below). You will then get a window that pops up and checks your spelling and offers alternatives etc. the usual stuff.
Any problems, let me know.
Clancy
(Thanks goes to tamarian over at vbulletin.org for this excellent extension)

Thanks I needed that.
You weren't trying to tell me something were you!!??
but my ABC button doesn't work, neither does my smilies etc
is that because my html code is off?
I tried to find how to turn it on with negative results.

6string,
I think that is because you are in basic editor mode. I'm not sure why that would be. All users should be set to the standard editor by default.
Anyway, to change your Messenger Editor Interface, just go to your User CP, then go to Edit Options, then scroll right down to the bottom of the page, you'll see Message Editor Interface, If Basic Editor is selected, then that's why you're not seeing the spell checker and the smilies. Both the Standard Editor and the Enhanced Interface modes should let you see the spell checker and the smilies, so just select one of those instead.
Let me know if that doesn't work for you.

6string,
Did things change for you just yesterday after I installed the spell checker and upgraded the forum, or has it always been that way for you? On the new forum I mean.
Also, what did you mean by "my html code is off"?
I don't think it's a javascript problem. I tried turning mine off and I still saw the smilies, ABC button etc.
I'd like to solve this. I have been looking over at the vBulletin support forum and I have a couple of ideas that I'll try, but I just need to know first that it wasn't the installing of the spell checker or the upgrade I did yesterday that's causing the problem.
Let me know when you get the chance.
Thanks
Clancy

Ah, well that's a different issue altogether. I thought you couldn't see the buttons and smilies at all.
The "html code is off" just means you can't use html code in your post.
I'll look into it and let you know what I find out.

6string,
I've been thinking a bit about the buttons not working for you. Could you just let me know if you see any threads listed under the latest active threads bar at the top of the forum home page?
Does your page show up like the image below? Just want to see if it is indeed a javascript error or something else.
Cheers

nope, just the link for it, I'd have to click on it to see the latest active links and then it would be a different page.

Ahh, now we're getting somewhere.
I guess you don't see any ads to the left under the sponsors links bar either then?
If not, try this. In Internet Explorer, go to Tools, then Internet Options, then to Security, then click on Custom Level, then scroll down to where it say scripting - active scripting. Is active scripting enabled or disabled? If it's disabled, that's your problem I would say, so just enable it and you should be able to use the buttons... Don't forget to super refresh your page. ctrl+f5
If the above works, it was because your security settings were set too high and your javascript was turned off.
