Forum New indicator on main page

Must be my eyes getting older or something, but in any case.. on the main page with the red O on the fretboard, the difference between a new topic in a forum and no new topics in a forum is quite hard to see for me.

Is it maybe an idea to add a little N to the image, to make it a wee more clear to see that there are new posts in there? I have attached an icon (I hope I did) to show what I mean.

Hi Eadwine,

I've lightened up the "no new threads" icon so it should be a bit easier to tell the difference now... the fact is that most of our forums are pretty active and will show the "new thread" icon most of the time which would mean that the N would show on most forums most of the time.

The best way really to see if there are new posts or threads is to either look up the top at the "new thread" ticker or just click on the "new posts" link in the nav bar or your "unread posts since your last visit" link right under your Welcome message up at the top right hand corner of the page.

Cheers

Clancy

Yeah.. thing is that I usually come in at times that the forum is pretty much at rest. You lot sleep a lot of the time that I am awake Then every now and then a new post is made. I had to really brighten up my screen to see the difference, and considering that gives me a headache.. I'll see how the difference holds up for me now. Thank you very much for the effort given!

Unread doesn't work properly for me, it doesn't give the right amount of time of last visited either, so I rather avoid that feature.. the ticker.. though nice.. is taking too much time; I am a multitasker high speed *laughs* flipflopping from one tab to the next.

I think it'll be ok now.. if it is still a problem I'll get back to you in a PM or something

Well we have members from all over the world, so it's never really at rest, quiet at times, but not at rest... "Us lot" are on at all different times.

The difference between the new and old status thread icons is now pretty obvious. If you still can't see the difference, I would be inclined to say that you might need a new monitor or your display settings are strange... either that or you might need to check the prescription on your glasses.

Well unread posts should work properly. I wouldn't avoid that feature.., The "you last visited * hours ago" is more to do with when you logged out and back in... it's a cookie thing so that part doesn't always look like it's working... but I haven't had anyone say the unread posts isn't working for them. How is it not working for you?

Cheers

It's working now, nothing to do with my perfect eyes I have shitty ears (half deaf), but the eyes are great. I just have to set the monitor at a really low brightness, which obscured the difference in icon color before. My dad even complained how dark it was. However, as said: it is working now.

Btw.. us lot.. I meant to say "the USA folks" mostly, since I do notice a long quiet period after I have read everything in my morning

I think you have brightened up the forum read icons even more, it's perfect now, thank you very much.

Thing is that I have to set the resolution on my monitor high, and lower the brightness as well, otherwise I run the risk of a nice migraine. Those suck bootie

In any case.. thanks again, I really appreciate it that you have taken that effort, and just for me!
