Something to be aware of Clancy.

The Gear Page forum crashed and they couldn't afford to have bought a backup The server is supposed to hold on to damaged drives for 7 days for data recovery attempts. The server lost the damaged drive. They have totally lost all data unless their last server has a copy stashed somewhere.
Please tell me that can't happen to us. I will sleep better. Here's the link with more details if your interested.

mysql dump ..... can save the world!

The dbase is the most important part!!!! The html/php can easily be rebuilt. Well, maybe not easily. But the dbase is of paramount import!

Yes, we have our site and database automatically backed up on another server nightly. Worst case scenario would be that we would lose a few days of forum posts... I also download to my local computer as well just in case... which is something Gear Page could have done... that wouldn't have cost them anything. I can't understand that... Anyway, I feel for them. I'm sure they are kicking themselves HARD right now.

So, you can sleep easily knowing that Marty.

They got lucky Clancy. Their old server found a copy so they only lost 3 weeks of data. They will be back on May 15th. They are a good source for bts. I'm glad they survived it.

That's good to hear. It's awful to think of all that work AND time AND information being lost forever.

Note to self... BACKUP MY COMPUTERS TODAY!!!, backup my computers today, backup my computers... backup my...backup... well, maybe I'll leave it until tomorrow, don't have time right now, besides nothing like that will EVER happen to ME.

The GfB&B Guitar Slide Rule

Download the PDF of the 'Guitar Chord Slide Rule', print it out, fold it together and you'll have at your disposal a very neat tool that will not only show you all the positions for the main flavors of chords, but will also teach you a very important lesson about how the guitar works... It consists of a folded sleeve and six double sided inserts, instructions for cutting it out and folding it together are included with the PDF ... it's very simple to do, and if you botch it, you can simply print it out again!

Buy it now for only $10
