  Those forum gremlins again!

Clancy, just a query regarding the edit function.

Not all the time, but occasionally when I go to press the edit button to alter or add something to my post, nothing happens. The edit button doesn't seem to want to work for me. This used to happen with my old PC and now that I have the new one, it's still happening.

What could it be?

Neil

hmm, I don't know Neil. The edit function uses a fairly new technology called ajax where the page doesn't need to refresh... I know that some people have problems because of that... BUT, it does work for you sometimes, so it's bit of a mystery as to why it works sometimes but not at other times... What happens when you press the edit button? Does the page just sit there? The only thing I can think of is that because you only have 30 minutes to edit your post, maybe the edit time has lapsed and you have let the page sit there too long before trying to edit your post. Next time it happens, just super refresh your page (control+F5) - and see if the edit button disappears. If it does then it's a timeout issue. If the edit button is still there, just try it again. If it still doesn't work, just let me know in this thread and I'll look into it further for you.

If anyone else is having this problem, also please let me know in this thread.

Thanks

Clancy

Is it not just a browser problem? Sounds like the script isn't executing correctly. Try it with a different browser perhaps? I use Firefox and haven't experienced the problem. The fact that it used to happen on his old PC suggests the timeout you mentioned, or the browser.

You say you want to play country, but you're in a punk rock band.

I'll try out your suggestions. But my problem exists even if I attempt modifications with the edit button just following my submitting a post.
Anyway, I'll get back to you if it occurs again.
Thanks!

Neil

Ok, well it doesn't sound like a timeout problem then. I use both Firefox and Explorer and haven't experienced the problem. Do you also have a problem using the Quick Reply as well Neil?

And also, what happens when you click on edit, nothing at all?

Clancy
