Cannot open the Guitar Pro file

I bought a couple of lessons and all is well except that I have not been able to open up the Guitar Pro file? When I click on it I get a message that"This file does not have a proghram associated with it for performing this action. Create an association in the folder options control panel." I'm NO computer wizard! At the bottom of this message there is a "OK" button. I click it and it says "Cannot open this file" What do I do next?
Thanks Mark

Do you have the actual Guitar Pro software? If not, it is not included. But it's a worthwhile investment.

Thanks Andy for the information. I did not understand that I would need a proghram to use what I bought, or maybe what I thought I bought? What does the Guitar Pro File do for me? How much does it cost and how/where do I buy it?
Again Thanks Mark

Mark,

For a good description of what the program does, just click on the words Guitar Pro. You should notice that they are in a different color. They are a direct link to the Guitar pro site. There is a demo, and also a free download for a temporary program so you can sample it. I forget how much it costs, but for what it did, it seemed relatively reasonable.

I still buy the lessons, but have not yet purchased Guitar Pro. I just use the .gif file of the tab and listen to the MP3 file and watch the video. Once you get Guitar Pro I believe you can also write out and tab out your own stuff as well as play the stuff and read the stuff that Kirk creates.

Hope that helps.

Hi htbboats, you can get Guitar Pro here...click on link> Guitar Pro - Tablature Editor Software for Guitar, Bass, and Banjo
I think{your now warned lol} Kirk includes the GP file, for those who have the program as a sort of bonus. It's a very helpful and handy app to have in your arsenal and inexpensive for what it is capable of...just my thoughts.

Not positive, but you may be able to use your file with the free demo

Edit: I must learn to type faster lol, Andy beat me to it.

Mark, this might interest you - Tux Guitar ... a free Guitar-Pro clone

Nothing is more discouraging than unappreciated sarcasm.
