google map markers
When I click on the markers on the google map the name of the owner of the marker doesn't pop up, has that feature been disabled or is it just me?

I noticed that too. I was going to start a thread here asking if others were having the problem too, so I'm glad you posted. Funny thing is, it still works for me in Firefox but not in IE... I thought it might be a Google problem to begin with, but it's obviously not. It must be the plugin itself. Damn it. I'll go and ask at the support forum, but I fear the answer might be a long time coming. We'll see.

I've got the same problem, plus when I click to drag, it won't "unclick". This is IE also.
I read your post Clancy, so no need to answer this one.

Thanks for the feedback guys. It seems like it works on most browsers apart from IE (the most used one)... typical. It actually works if you are not logged in using IE, but for some reason if you are logged in it doesn't. Just one of those annoying problems. I've put in a support ticket with the guy who put this plugin together but I don't know how long it will be until he gets back to me with a solution. I do know that other forums are also experiencing the same issue, so fingers crossed that we'll have a fix soon.
Cheers

Ok, the Member location Googlemap markers are working again in Internet Explorer. We had a conflict with another extension I had installed on here. I have disabled that extension and all is working ok again now... so anyone who wants to go in and add their marker or just browse the map again, it's working again...

Just bumping this thread as I've upgraded our googlemap ( member locations) page. The new features include the ability to see the list of members who have added their link... which means you can now go and click on the link "Show on Map" link next to the members name and be to be taken directly to that members location.
You will also notice that the resolution of many areas is now more defined. We even have most of our own Tamborine Mountain shown in high definition (satelite view).
If you have added your location before and would like to move it... I had my location about 60kms from where we actually are... you can just go to the "your entry" link and update your location. The only thing that differs from the old map is that you now have to give your marker a title.
If you haven't added your location and would like to, just go to http://www.guitarforbeginners.com/fo...ooglemapme.php and add your marker.
Please note: for obvious reasons it's best not to put your marker right where you live, putting a marker in the general area where you live is the best thing to do for security reasons.
Please also note that only members can see the map and add their markers.
Let me know if anyone has any problems with the new map. It does take a while to load (dial up will be slow) - and you need to jiggle your mouse around a bit sometimes for the pop up ballons to show, but all in all it works pretty well I think. Once again a big thank you go to StonyArc over at vbulletin.org for making this available.

Howdy, not 100% sure if this is associated, but I had the occasional hiccup with IE & MS Java.
Did some Googling and found that Microsofts Java Virtual Machine is on the way out and to be replaced by Sun Java which is more stable and packed with plugins.
I installed Sun Java and found no further issues in some of the sites I had previously encountered problems with.

Ah, yet another reason to use Firefox- it's like moving from dial up to high speed. Once you've made the switch you never want to go back.

It works fine for me on Firefox and IE. It's a bit slower on IE but it does work ok.

The GfB&B Guitar Slide Rule
Download the PDF of the 'Guitar Chord Slide Rule', print it out, fold it together and you'll have at your disposal a very neat tool that will not only show you all the positions for the main flavors of chords, but will also teach you a very important lesson about how the guitar works... It consists of a folded sleeve and six double sided inserts, instructions for cutting it out and folding it together are included with the PDF ... it's very simple to do, and if you botch it, you can simply print it out again!
