Not sure how to upload a music file. Read this.
To upload a file (of your recording), just do the following,
Write your message, then scroll down below the message area to where it says additional options, then attach files, then click on manage attachments - browse to find the file on your computer, then click on the upload button, when it finishes uploading you will see the name of your file listed under current attachments. If you want to upload another file, just repeat the process, browse and find it on your computer and hit the upload button. Then close that small window and submit your new thread or post.
You need to have your file in either a mp3, mov, avi, wma or a wmv format or it won't work.
Please note: You can not upload a WAV file.
If you have any questions, please post them here in this thread.
Cheers
Clancy

Pity a poor clueless mac person
I have the free version of quicktime. Does this mean my file is in the dread WAV format? I know that if I shell out for quicktime pro I will be able to export into MP3 format, but if there is freeware out there that does the same thing I'd be glad to save myself some money.

Oops, just read the title of your post. Umm, I'll just boot up my mac and have a look. I don't do much on the mac anymore and to tell you the truth I can't remember how Quicktime saves its files.
Be back.

Thanks Clancy for making that info a sticky. My memory ain't the best and so when I manage to get the recording gear I need, I'm glad I can refer to this sticky to download my file.

It saves the file as .mov - that file extension isn't included as one of the allowed attachment file types here on the forum, but I'll add it in now. I'll let you know when it's done.

That's great battlepanda! Glad you're working it out.
I've just gone in and changed it so that .mov files can be uploaded anyway. So anyone who would like to use that format can.
Cheers

Upload Neil, upload! Your memory IS bad... You download to your computer, you upload from your computer to the site here. Got it? Or should I make that a sticky for you too?

Yep, that's me... hehe... I have an unnatural fascination with computers and the Internet... I admit it.

Hi again, interested in this thread because I often link off to my media files using my FTP site.
For those unaware, and FTP site is space you can easily request from your ISP (Internet Service Provider). Some allot say 10 megabytes of space, I have twisted my ISP's arm and squeezed 25mbs out of them.
Just give your ISP a ring if you're interested and ask that they set up your FTP site/space for you, they can do it in a flash no problems, and it means you don't have to set up a website to hold data on, saves a lot of work
(sorry 'bout the 4-letter word).
With mine the address would be something like;
for example, dubblya dubblya dubblya.ISPName.com/MoonShine/Moons_Files (this is the folder you make up yourself)
Now to transfer files to and from your FTP site you'll need a neat software program like Ipswitch WS_FTP Professional 2006, this is the one I use. Its much like Windows Explorer but it links up to your FTP space when Online and you can then easily transfer files you wish to share with other people.
So if and when I want to link to any file, jpg pictures, mp3's, small videos, PDF files etc., I just go in to my FTP site, right/click on the file and look at Properties.
In there you'll see the URL link, just copy and paste this to say Notepad so you can then copy/paste it in to your post in here or elsewhere for people to download.
Oh and forgot to mention, FTP space from your ISP is free, unless you have capping on your download/upload that is.

The GfB&B Guitar Slide Rule
Download the PDF of the 'Guitar Chord Slide Rule', print it out, fold it together and you'll have at your disposal a very neat tool that will not only show you all the positions for the main flavors of chords, but will also teach you a very important lesson about how the guitar works... It consists of a folded sleeve and six double sided inserts, instructions for cutting it out and folding it together are included with the PDF ... it's very simple to do, and if you botch it, you can simply print it out again!
