Why are some people members & some not?
Hi guys
I was just wondering how that works, Administrator & Moderator are self explanatory, but why are some people members & some newbies? And what about Jean he is a "Super Member"! What secret powers does he possess that the rest of us don't? Can he learn whole songs in a single bound? Play solos faster than the speed of sound?
Just curious
Dan
PS. Check out http://www.guitarforbeginners.com/fo...read.php?t=518 Anonymous was last on line before the internet as we know it was invented, his secret power is obviously time travel, no wonder he is 'Anonymous' it's to protect his secret identity!

Most forums give members ratings based on the number of posts they have made. I would assume that is what gives people the various names.

Hey don't target me out like that!
It apears to be the number of posts that you make, that gives you a little name under your name, does it really offend you that much?
Sorry about it then, perhaps I should start as a new member again? Like JeanII?

Har (pirate laugh). On some forums they have little guitars under your name that get filled in one at a time for each thousand posts. I belong to a forum where a dozen members or so have posted between 5000 to 16000 posts. On some less upright forums there are less complimentry names for members with lots of posts. It is just a fun thing,no harm intended. Jean,if you can run faster than a speeding bullet then you can take anything we can thow at you.LOL

Hi Jean
Sorry to single you out, I forgot to add a smiley etc..., you know 'tongue in cheek' I didn't intend for it to sound sarcastic. As it happens I enjoy your posts very much, I think there ... um ... 'Super' . Believe it of not even though I have been using the net for years this is the first forum I have used or read, because I just don't have the time.
Thanks for the answers guys, hopefully I wont end up dismembered for asking.

LOL, yeah Anonymous last online in 1970 (what's that all about )
Ok, the way I have it set up is that you are a newbie until you make 30 posts, after this you become a Member ... More than a hundred posts, you become a Full member, more than 300 posts, a Super member and after that... well nobody is there yet so I haven't decided
The way the member post rankings are currently named is more or less the default in this forum software but it's been brought up here before ( in this thread) that maybe we could be a bit more creative in our member ranking names.
If anyone has any alternatives for fun (maybe guitar related) member ranking names, post them here.
Let the fun begin

This should do it!
Hey Jean
Since I started this thread, I thought I would post my 30th here to bump me up from Newbie to Member, so hopefully this will do it & make it official. Now I just have to post another 300+ to catch up with you Jean.

The GfB&B Guitar Slide Rule
Download the PDF of the 'Guitar Chord Slide Rule', print it out, fold it together and you'll have at your disposal a very neat tool that will not only show you all the positions for the main flavors of chords, but will also teach you a very important lesson about how the guitar works... It consists of a folded sleeve and six double sided inserts, instructions for cutting it out and folding it together are included with the PDF ... it's very simple to do, and if you botch it, you can simply print it out again!
