Help with quotes
I just figured out that I can't include a quote in a reply. I have checked my settings and can't find any switch or box that will fix. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I dunno, either, knight46, but if you want to just copy and paste the other person's comments, and then put [quote=knight46 and the message #, if you know it, and end with [/QUOTE] maybe that would work?
I have a little orange 'quote' button underneath others comments and it automatically does it; do you have that button as well?
I'm nooooo techie, I just play one on in the internet...

I have tried highlighting a quote and then clicking the Quote box but the box will not not click, I don't think it is active.

Click the quote button first, then you can delete what you don't want by highlighting.

Hey, knight46, here at the Home, we really try to help each other out, with doses of medication, an extra bedpan or two, so it's all good!

There are at least three different ways you can include quotes in your post. Easiest is probably to just click the orange button at the bottom right of the post you want to quote that says "Quote", then go into it and delete the part you don't want (for a partial quote). I usually add an ellipsis (...) at the beginning and/or end to show that there originally was more text than what I quoted.
Another way is to highlight the text you want to quote, right-click on it and choose 'Copy' (or push Ctrl+C), then click where you want it in the body of your post, right-click and choose 'Paste' (or push Ctrl+V).....now click & drag to highlight it, then go up to the little toolbar in the posting window above your text and click on the far right icon on the second row that looks like a text balloon (if you hover your mouse over it, it will say "Wrap QUOTE tags around selected text". If you want to add the person's name to the quote (i.e. attribute it to the poster), go into the initial brackets where it says {QUOTE} (I had to use different brackets than the [ ] or it would mess it up), and change it so it says {QUOTE=knight46}. The difference looks like this - first just using QUOTE, then using QUOTE=knight46:

Another way to do it is just to type {QUOTE} and {/QUOTE} at the beginning and end of the text you want to quote (using the [ ] brackets). If you want to include the original poster's name, do it the same as above - just type {QUOTE=knight46} instead of {QUOTE} at the beginning. So, to do the above quote I used for an example, you'd type {QUOTE=knight46}This is a test.{/QUOTE} - again, using the [ ] brackets instead of the { } brackets.
Kinda lengthy to explain, but easy to do!

First time I ever tried it, cause I never knew how it worked.
And while were on the subject, how do you do the -look here- stuff
like ....this... etc.

Wow...thanks for the explination Stratrat, I had the copy/paste thing alright, but there is a little box at the lower left of the reply window that says "Quote message in reply?" and I couldn't get it to do anything. Also I raise my hand for the Here and There thingy.
