Ha.. Let me let you in on a secret... Wylde was a classical guitarist before he joined up with Ozzy. Not only was he a classical guitarist, but this is a list of all the instruments he plays: drums, guitar, bass, cello, violin, piano, mandolin, and believe it or not, harp.. He is FAR from a one-trick pony.

oops  my bad. :brickwall: (do my homework next time)

keith richards just never really stood out for me. sure the stones had some good riffs, but they never had any legendary ones (that also includes licks). and as for brian may, well not only could he play the guitar, he had awsome hair. (lol). sorry about my comments before dudes. after listening to some wilde ill admit he's an awsome player. chow

It takes a humble person to admit when he made a mistake, and humility is such a rare quality among humans today, so good on ya dude!:winkthumb:

Okay, I took another vote away from Mr.Springsteen because he belongs more in a singer/songwriter contest than a guitarist one (no offence Bruce)

I gave one back to Keith Richards because he has come up with some of the hookiest guitar riffs (eg. Satisfaction, Brown Sugar, etc) and the guy has got to be one of the best rhythm guitarists around. What Keith lacks for in lead guitar, he makes up plenty with his rhythm playing.

Gotta do my part in pushing "the Boss" out the door....he's out of his league here. Joe Perry gets another point back because I can't even bear the thought of him being ranked equally with Jerry Garcia! :)

Interesting info about Zakk Wylde - never knew that!

Please allow me to boot "The Boss"! I agree that he does not belong on this list. Singer/songwriter? Sure. Guitarist? No way! As for Brian May, his tone and feel are unique and his technique is mind boggling. There is no mistaking Brian May. He is in a class by himself.

Gave one to Keith Richards because the guy is an amazing rhythm guitarist and has conjured up some incredible riffs (just listen to the riffs for Satisfaction etc)

Took one from Johnny Cash, because the man in black was certainly talented but perhaps not so much for his guitar playing abilities.

Had to give some love to Chuck Berry because he was doin' it when this whole "rock n roll" thing started, and is kinda one of the pioneers. Who hasn't messed with playing the double-stops in "Johnny B Goode" at one time or another???

Took one from Jerry Garcia because nothing truly memorable of his sticks in my mind as far as riffs go.

Took a vote from Jerry Garcia because although he could play guitar, I just don't think he was anywhere near the level of some of the other guitarists in this contest.

Gave one to Zakk Wylde due to his obvious passion for the guitar and some hair-raising licks over the years.

Donno why people seem to hate Mr. Cash in my opinion he's certainly in the best half of the people up there. Hurt Garcia cuz I agree that this row of guitarists is kinda out of his league

Gave one to Zakk Wylde because he's got the technical abilities as well as the passion for guitar.

BTW, I don't hate Johnny Cash, I actually have a lot of respect for the man, but I don't think he is on the same guitar skills level as some of the others in the contest, which is why I took away a vote.

I'll give Keef a point just for "Honky Tonk Woman" - love the guitar in that song. I actually like Travis Tritt's cover of it even better, but it's a great tune with some good licks.

Garcia gets another ding because he's outclassed by everybody else on this list (just IMO).

Gave a vote to Joe Perry, having listened to him on Aerosmith's "Toys In The Attic" cd today, he most certainly deserves it.

Took a vote away from Chuck Berry since he is simply not in the same league as some of the other guitarists.

Whats wrong with Jerry Garcia? I dont listen to much of his music but I do like his guitar playing alone, and Aerosmith is just probally one of the worst bands to hit radio land and seeing that I found joe perry is there guitar player...

Jerry Garcia is an ok guitarist but again, I don't believe he ranks along with some of the others on here like Zakk Wylde, of whom I gave another vote to.

I gotta agree (IMO, YMMV) - Aerosmith is FAR from being amongst the worst bands that ever hit radio. Perry gets another point.

If given a choice between listening to Aerosmith/Joe Perry and the Dead/Jerry Garcia, it would be a no-brainer for me.....not even a decision process involved. Garcia loses another point because he's out of his league in this group.

P.S. to Neil - "Toys In The Attic" ranks among my top all-time albums.....I think that was their best cut ever. Other albums had some great songs on them, but "Toys" was the best overall collective effort.

Brian May gets another point because he's got the best chops of any axeman in this list.....much versatility, and seems to get great tone no matter what.

Garcia loses another one for the same reasons as above....he's obviously not universally considered a bad guitarist, judging by his fan base and the number of albums they sold/tours they sold out - just not my cup of tea.
