A Couple of New Ones

Recommended Posts

I got a very good deal on a couple of "like new" guitars that I'm very happy with, an Epiphone Masterbilt AJ500R, and an Epiphone Dot. They're both good, but the Masterbilt really shines. I adjusted the truss rod and shaved a little off the saddle to get it set up like my D-28, and this thing plays like butter and has seriously sweet tone. The Dot was like new as well, but the pups in it are a bit weak compared to what I'm use to, but still a very decent instrument. She'll just need new pups in the future, that's all. I put a Tusq nut on it that I had waiting and made some adjustments and new strings of course, and it's a lot of fun to play. I love new guitars, especially when I score good deals on them.

New pups and electronics are on the way for the Dot. It plays quite nicely, but I know the sonic potential is being missed with the stock pups. I'm trying a Burstbucker in the neck and a '57 Classic in the bridge, and CTS/Switchraft electronics, braided wiring, orange drop caps.
