Collab: All The Ways to Lose

Recommended Posts

Here are some words in search of music.

I've posted them as a work-in-progress as I had it saved a few years ago on my computer - it's a collab, right?? In other words it still needs some crunching into a song.

As always, feel free to change, switch, add more, use less - whatever you might want take from these words to turn it into your song.

The slashes are generally alternative words/phrases/ideas, and the brackets are generally options to include or omit.

Go on, have a go, nothing to lose in All the Ways to Lose :)

All the Ways to Lose - first part = too dark? Second half = too preachy?

abab – could be repeated at the end – to repeat the title words

Please tell me all the ways to lose

Tell me, if you know, please say

It’s hard to know which way to choose

Or know which/the way to live each day

(And everything there is to pay)

This could be a chorus – aabb

Tell me all the things you know

All the things you need to grow

All the costs you have to pay

All the ways to lose your way

aabb

I want to know which way to go

No one tells you how to grow

You do your best and then you find

You wind up hurting all the time

Looser rhyme

Tell me please, I want to know

- If you know the way, please say

Please, I want to hear you tell me

How to live through one more day

This could be a Chorus - aabb

I don’t know, where I should (try to) start

I try to look inside my heart

I try to see a/the path ahead/the way ahead

But always find, I’ve lost my way

Another or alternative chorus - aabb

I don’t know, where I should start

I try to look inside my heart

I ask my friends but they don’t know

We’re all the same – nowhere to go

You choose, then loose, I just don’t know (left over line to use if you want)

Part 2 Answer: - but sounds too ‘preachy’ - maybe it’s better without it?

You start with love inside your heart

Love teaches us and shows the way

We love all things that try to be/stay true

We [can] love ourselves and know we can

Find life and wealth of any kind

Maybe not money, but what we need

We find a place where we’re at peace

Love leads the way, the way to find

The way to find how/who we want to be

We know that some things are not right

Not just, not fair, but they’re always there

We do what we know to be right

To live with/find [the] love inside our hearts

We find ourselves to find our way

I see that the software has added it's own tweak in the copy/pasting process - the last line (the answer) is in a slightly bigger font - it's nothing to do with me.

Very much like the concept or at least what I think it is - choosing losing.

I don't find it too dark nor too perky.
I have other thoughts about it but cannot seem to organize them (into sentences) (at the moment)

Yes, that can definitely be a problem.
My solution is that when/if you have even one line, or a thought, to just scribble/type something/anything that comes to mind that is vaguely related to the thought/idea and then... see if you can make any sense at all out of anything that you put down... or not. No guarantees of course.

How'do Carol :)

I started workin on recording a wee idea i had to go with these lyrics, I got nice new strings yesterday and started on getting Guitar parts recorded :)

i'll post when i can get a mixdown recorded.......i try and post a breakdown of the track - the basic chords then adding bass n vocals n maybe tweakin the drum track a wee bit ;)

i changed the order round a wee bit, here's how the lyrics work in ma heid :D

Chords are - Verse E,G,D,A

Chorus C,G,A, C,D,A x2

V1

Tell me all the things you know

All the things you need to grow

All the costs you have to pay

All the ways to lose your way

V2

I want to know which way to go

No one tells you how to grow

You do your best and then you find

You wind up hurting all the time

Chorus

Tell me all the ways to lose

Tell me, if you know, please say

It’s hard to know which way to choose

Or how to live each day

V3

Tell me please, I want to know

- If you know the way, please say

Please, I want to hear you tell me

How to live another day

Chorus

Tell me all the ways to lose

Tell me, if you know, please say

It’s hard to know which way to choose

Or how to live each day

V4(outro)

I don’t know, where I should start

I try to look inside my heart

I ask my friends but they don’t know

We’re all the same – nowhere to go

Nowhere to go...

You choose then you lose, I just don’t know....

I'll post a recording soon ;)

Excellent Paul, I don't know how you do it - it's magic the way you turn my words on a page into a song, and then record it! As always, it's great guitar playing, singing and recording. Well done. :punk:
