Two More Songs.

Recommended Posts

Hi again.

I have been working on a couple of songs so I thought I would put them up.

Both are by Nick Drake as I like some of his guitar work.

I removed most of the repeats to shorten them and I changed a few things just because.

Both are recorded with a mic through Audacity.

First one is:

Clothes of Sand.

Played on my ol' trusty Fender.

Second is:

Thoughts of Mary Jane.

Played on my Ovation.

Thanks for the kind words guys.

I am chugging along progressing fairly well I think.

Ok...........try as I might I can't find a way to delete the duplicate post.

Guess you will just have to watch me beat myself over the head twice now.

Sorry about that.

Very nice playing. They remind me very much of some acoustic stuff I used to listen to back when I was a teen. You have obviously put a lot of work into these and it shows. How long have you been playing, and how long did it take you to learn these? I loved the tone on that Fender! Out of curiousity, what's your recording setup? You mentioned Audacity, but what is your mic(s)/interface?

MrHarryReems,

Hi.....thanks for the compliments. Appreciate it.

My mic is an Audio-technica AT2020 condensor and the interface is an Alesis i02 Express.

Nothing fancy, just what I need to be able to record. I place the mic at fret #12 about a foot away.

I have been playing more or less steady for about 4 years. Took lessons for a while, mostly self taught.

I am 70+ so I don't sit at it for 8 hours at a stretch like the kids do but sit for 20 minutes or so once or

twice a day. Guitar playing for me is a relaxation method and it keeps my mind active.

I don't post many songs here but put one up every so often just to show that I am trying.

You may have noticed I post a lot of Nick Drake songs. Right now I am stuck on him. I like the

guitar parts he hides behind the vocals and his use of unusual tunings. Fun to learn to play.

Have a good day...................................
