Since my last post I bought a Cordoba C5 used. My goals and plans are much different than most since I'm Old- really (82) many many years ago I fooled around with a few cords but never attained any skill . Now I'm interested in classical guitar but lets face it -I don't have time left to ever become really good or do I ever want to entertain anyone other than myself. My goal (I have been practicing for about a month) is that in 6 mos to a year I could play a dozen or so simple, pleasant sounding pieces for my own enjoyment. I would like to be able to play something like Danny Boy or Clair De lune - something more than just single not picking melody but not lot of difficult technical techniques or hard to learn skills..I'd prefer not to use a personal instructor.
My questions? 1. the Cordoba is a tad bigger (wider neck) than the old 7/8 cheap unit i had before that was easier to finger but one instructor told me I'd get used to it if I stick with it. I tried a Yamaha that was smaller & seemed easier but obviously was not as good a quality of guitar. Stick with the good one or go smaller?
2. Any suggestion on on-line instruction, books or any guidance i can use to help with my unique desires?
All thoughts welcome and appreciated. Thanks, Old Joe
