Well.. I've been playing guitar for about two years... mostly rythm... I was practicing Chromatic scales a few days ago and now my thumb is so sore... from being on the neck... the joint of where my thumb connects to my hand hurts a lot... I think somehow I injured it... can't beleive it is just from doing something a little new... any thoughts?

DDog,

You may have bruised the bone from holding the neck too tight. Give it a break and look at how you are holding the guitar. You may need to make a simple adjustment.

Yes give your playing a rest - don't try to play through it. Wait as long as you have to.

Always have to be careful not to crush the neck when trying new stuff.
