Roots of My Creation

Recommended Posts

Salaam Alaikum, hola, or hello

Don’t matter to I,

There’s no color to a man’s soul

Some of us were born, with money to spend

And others were born, with plastic spoon in hand

I can’t afford no silver, I’m struggling to live

You talk about money, but really it’s funny

Back in the day we used to know what’s happening

I can’t find the answer to the problems that I’m facing.

Spend my days running, searching for the roots of my creation.

Yeah, the roots of my creation, roots of my creation

I rhyme nice and I’ll say so much.

My tongue’s sharper than the knife Cain was Able to clutch.

Like Moses I’m taking the people on an exodus.

I don’t mean to preach, but knowledge is what I’m aiming to bust.

And no, I’m never resting. I want to be like Gandhi, a vehicle for the message.

I speak of equality like Selassie, and for as long as there’s a breath in my body,

There’s no stopping me. Where’s the unity? We’re all one people like Pangaea

That’s the idea, but people seem to forget.

Why gay marriage is still illegal is something I don’t get.

They say it’ll ruin the sanctity, as if there was any left.

The government man will only tell lies,

He will sensationalize, but we must arise.

It’s a problem of policy that makes the youth distrust police.

They’re supposed to protect and serve the people.

Not the purpose of the wicked and evil.

It’s got to stop, like a urine drop.

Invasion of the people’s privacy,

To control the public’s priorities.

We’re the revolution.

From Tokyo all the way to Houston, it starts.

Let’s burn it down, take part.

I can’t find the answer to the problems that I’m facing.

Spend my days running, searching for the roots of my creation.

Yeah, the roots of my creation, roots of my creation

Let’s roll one up; I got King Solomon’s wisdom.

One for those held in camps in concentration,

And one for those working the plantations,

And one for my people, facing poverty and starvation
