I haven't named any of mine yet - if a name for any one or all of them strikes me at some point I wouldn't have any problem with it, but I'm not going to force it.

My firends hate my Blue Squier and they call it TORMENTOR !!!!! ...because sometimes is a pain in the @.... and the lack of the 22 freet.

However, I adore my cheap guitar.....

I've got a MIM Strat called Debbie and a Tanglewood TW15 called Sally. Less-favoured guitars (a Freshman 12-string electro-acoustic, a Variax 300 and a Yamaha classical) don't get named.

I asked my brother if he had a name for his Seagull. He said he hadn't but it sounded like a good idea so he'd think about it. A couple of weeks later, he came up with Stringy. Hmm.

I have heard the Keith Richard names all his guitars with girl's names, and they must all begin with "M". If I remember rightly, his current (at the time) was Marilyn.

Incidentally, last year I went to a book signing by Terry Pratchett and I asked Him to sign the book for Clare and Jenny (my proper daughters) and also Debbie and Sally. Initially, He called me tight-fisted for not buying a second book, but when I explained who Debbie and Sally were, He asked one of the shop assistants to make sure that I was escorted off the premises. :yeahhh:

*Two* insults from PTerry in one conversation must be worth a tee-shirt??!

I never knew people really do this until I just found this thread. Just a few nights ago, my wife said I should name them. First thought to myself was, 'Are you crazy?' lol

But I did it. Now I call my acoustic 'Blondie' and my LP Studio, I just call it 'Goth'.

That is until I get mad at them, I can't tell you their names when that happens.

RG370DX - "I" because I couldn't think of anythign better at that moment.

S470DX- "I2D2" Was originally going for "I the second" but then I went for I2D2 since I"m a huge fan of star wars.

Brandless nylon string - "Mysteriouso" Means "mysterious". Because of the story of me aquiring it if any of you remember.

The color of my Strat is Midnight Wine. I named it Ernest, as in Ernest & Julio Gallo.

I named my acoustic Rec because I inherited it from an uncle whom all the neices and nephews knew as Uncle Rec. The adults in the family told us that everyone called him that because he was reckless (he was). We found out later it was short for rectum.

Well I can't see naming something (like a guitar) unless it sticks around for awhile. Eventually I name them

Flame top Ibanez semi-hollow is Lorene

Solid red Ibanez hollow body is cat ... short for -oh never mind

My low end Martin is Gut Bucket cuz thats the type of blues it plays

In the last year I bought a beat-up Washburn D10 and set it up as a slide guitar ... it still sounds like 2 cats fighting when I try and play blues on it. Right now I just call it %#&@!

My First Act acoustic (I know, I know...) is named MariƩ Rhythmi, after the singer MariƩ Digby, and Rhythmi is just Rhythmic with the c at the end taken off.

My Yamaha electric is Allstar Taylor, named after one of my favorite songs "All Star" by Smash Mouth, and Taylor... It's half dedication to Taylor Swift, and the other half is that I just like the name. xD And I get pretty possessive over the name, too: Everyone at school has to call him Allstar, very close friends and family can call him Taylor, but only I can call him Tay. :P

And I think it's perfectly normal to name guitars. I mean, I name pretty much everything, including my skullcandy headphones, Nintendo DS's, car, etc.

...However, people probably don't consider it normal when my facebook says, "In a relationship with Allstar Taylor." People probably think I'm insane, but that guitar means a lot more to me than anyone from past relationships has. laugh.gif
