Thanks folks. It was a wedding present from my good wife. Always wanted one since I first saw the cover of the Dire Straits Brothers in Arms album. Having some great fun playing it.

Haha. Me too. It looks so good on that album cover. I'm pretty sure I've seen Mark Knoplfer owns one, but I can't think of a single Resonator note on that album.:dunno:

At any rate, the chrome looks ultra cool, it's a Fender, and you will find it makes some great sounds. If you want adjustments made to the cone or anything, make sure you go to a specialist in reso's.

It'll sound great for blues, bluegrass and banjo kind of music too. Try a capo on there. Congrats!

I thought 'The Man's Too Strong' was played on that reso. I know it is a different album, but he also played 'Romeo and Juliet' on the guitar.

I saw the 'Brothers in Arms' tour and he played it a few times during the night, evening starting 'Going Home' off on it before his guitar tech ran out with something else.

I was very, very young when Brothers in Arms came out and it's always been a dream to own an all chrome reso because of that album cover. I was just a bit surprised when I thought about it years later, "Hey, hang on, that guitar would sound more like the Dixie Chicks (bluegrass) than Dire Straits."

It's that whole Jimmy Page with the Les Paul and Jimi with the Strat when you're actually hearing a Tele on some of their most famous recordings eg solo to Stairway to Heaven I think.

Here's some videos you guys will like for sure:

Hiya - It's a Fender FR-48. Sounds fantastic, and I'm having great fun trying out the different open tunings with it. It's really nice to have one guitar there with open tuning, and the another in standard - especially for recording over each other when the creative juices are flowing.

Hello,

I am new to this site and this my second post. Although I have played guitar for many years on and off I am now on a mission to acquire my" dream reso" and focus on reso and open tuning. I am really looking for someone in the North Florida (Jacksonville) area to play with and learn from. Anybody on here in Jacksonville area??

I also have been playing Harp 35+ years and it would be cool to do a duo thing (without the egos) and just have fun playing out several weekends a month for several hours.

Anybody ot there???

Gary C
