What ten albums...

Recommended Posts

Do you take to that proverbial desert island? I was looking at that thread about best album and thought this might be interesting too.

I worked on my list and would hate to have to really make the choice. I am sure this list could, at any moment, change. And these are not necessarily in order.

1 Dave Mason "Alone Together"

2 Fleetwood Mac "Future Games" and "Bare Trees" (sorry, this is like cheating but have always kind of considered them to be two halves of a whole)

3 Danny O'Keefe "Breezy Stories"

4 Sonny Landreth "Grant Street"

5 Allman Brothers "Live at the Fillmore East"

6 Cream "Disraeli Gears"

7 Megan Slankard Band "Freaky Little Story"

8 Dire Straits (the first album)

9 Beatles "Rubber Soul"

10 Poco "From the Inside"

If I ever found myself in this situation I would much rather have to choose 100; but there it is. What have you all got to say for yourselves?

Tough, but intriguing question...

In no particular order:

1) Sublime - 40oz to Freedom

2) Red Hot Chili Peppers - Californication

3) Led Zeppelin - Physical Graffiti

4) Led Zeppelin - II

5) Pink Floyd - The Wall

6) Silverchair - Self Titled(Brings me back...)

7) Pearl Jam - Greatest Hits

Man that's a tough one.... I have to run, that's all for now...

Ok, the Silverchair isn't self titled.... Frogstomp...

As for the other 3, I guess it would depend on the day/week/month that I decided to get stranded on this island...

I knew I was going to find your list intriguing when I saw Forever Changes at the top of the list. I like your choices. Although I am unfamiliar with The Blue Nile. Tell me more.

Don't forget the bit where the big wave sweeps away all youralbums bar one. So to cut directly to the chase;- How about Abraxis from Santana. Circa 1969? sounds as sweet today as it did then!!

Hi Rick,

The Blue Nile are a very enigmatic Scottish who have only released 4 albums within 30 years. Actually they have very little to do with guitars, but the lead singer Paul Buchanan has a voice to die for. very wind swept streets, Neon bars and lights, love gained and lost. Hats is by far their best album, and regarding Forever Changes, it does not get any better than Arthur Lee and his psychedelic band!!!

andmoreagain:

I checked them out. Nice sound. Might have to put Hats on my wish list. Thanks.

As far as Love goes, I have a box set of theirs that gets a lot of playing time. Interesting how they were never as successful as so many other bands but so many good musicians name them as an important influence. Arthur Lee is touring again and was in my area but I couldn't make it. Very disappointed. BTW, have you heard of a band called Calexico? They do this amazing cover of Alone Again, Or. Really worth checking out.
