I just came back
I feel quite chipper
The site looks cool
I think it's hipper
Must confess
It's a lot slicker
I got confused
So took it slow
But I'm good to go
And I'm getting quicker
Let loose the ticker tape
Rejoice
You've done a great job
Girls and boys

I thought that I'd come here first
I thought the worst, that it might go
But I was wrong the thread's still here
I sighed relief and shed a tear
Now you all rest and have a beer
Or wine or lemonade
Whatever floats your boat I say
Good to see the site is back
It's good, it's cool, now I'll change tack
And say farewell, go for a stroll
Congrats to all on reaching you're goal.
You don't stop laughing when you grow old; you grow old when you stop laughing.

With luck those spammers
'll be a thing of the past
And we are free to joke and natter
- I really hope the blocking lasts -
I'm sure you'll find
As you surf and explore
And learn you way
Just like of 'yor
You'll see how good this site is now
But like the one that went before
The main thing is the people here
Who post their ravings and their songs
Who give advice and generally help
The rest of us to play along
And learn what we all want the most
To play like Kirk, our gracious host.....
My first rhyming couplet here I believe
My rhyming skills must be retrieved
From where they hide amongst the debris
I chucked away, I think last February
Have you checked the content Kirk has made?
It puts all others in the shade -
I've got to stop this rhyming lazyness
Not to mention random mental craziness
I'd best be off, and make the dinner
Or else our household'll be getting thinner
Not that they need it, most are svelt
Except for me, I need a belt
To keep myself from over-flowing
It's useful too, for random towing
Enough! enough! I hear you cry
Ok, I'll go, and say, goodbye.

I'm still finding my way round
Just posted a film with a bit of sound
An old BBC short and a mix that I made
Thought I'd test the members recording's out
It's cool it's easy no problems, nowt
I guess I could just say trout
As I couldn't think of the next line
Ok I'm fine, mind is back
I've cracked the site, it does take time
It's a lot different to the old one
And though at first it was quite strange
I like it now it's reaarranged
It's kind of chic, it has more glamour
And you seem to have blown out all those spammers
Which saves me hitting my computer with a hammer
As they wind me up, I'm not enamoured with spammers
I've been checking out Kirks contents page
It is quite detailed, very well made
Don't think I'll ever play like Kirk
It would take quite a lot of work
If I strive I may succeed
I'm too laidback, lack some speed
But I'm ok not gone to seed
Just need to play more and take heed
Of good advice I often read
My rhyme is done, my words are spelt
I must confess I myself am svelt
I have no choice but to wear belts
Especially if I go to town
As people laugh when my pants fall down
You don't stop laughing when you grow old; you grow old when you stop laughing.

Your rhymes have caught
My rhyming couplet disease
With an extra rhyming triplet
That you've thrown in there with ease
If I don't try hard, I find I relapse
If I only relax and don't try to think
Or bother to find a word like prolapse :o
Best not go there, or else in one blink
I'll get sidetracked and then I'll sink....
You see how it happens?
I must try to do better
And try to keep the rhymes a-coming -
Let's see, my first dog was an Irish Setter
That's a swift change of subjects -
I hope no one objects (grr)
It might have left you slightly agahst
But I had to steer clear and it gave me a blast
To think once again of my memories past -
It might have got a bit out of control
And lead you astray, once I get on a roll....
Aaah! It's no good, now I've lost my way
I'd better bail out, and stop for today.
:(

I ditched the rhymes for a day:

I cannot tell you
How beautiful the day is,
Here, today in Sydney
On a late winter's afternoon
As if people had stopped killing
Those they love
A little each day
Without noticing
Not deliberately
With hate
But as a lifestyle
Something they never think about
Casually, like catching the train
Or eating breakfast
Something they never even notice
The automatic under-mining,
The thoughtless hurtful remark,
The assumption of incompetence
Or failure
Or the slow build of resentment
Sown deep over the years
From unfulfilled dreams
And quiet desperation -
The daily betrayal
Of who they thought they were.
One good thing about music is that when it hits you, you feel no pain - Bob Marley

Don't think mine's as good as yours Carol but God loves a trier.

In Porthallow it is overcast
Rain has come
Silent day, thoughtful reflection
Vistas of the world we see
Through our own eyes
Or those of others
Loved ones thoughts
On who we are
What we think of them or those not near
Thought's of hatred, thoughts of love
Views on events we cannot change
Contemplating what is done
Ambitions never realised
Regrets of things long past
Actions taken, misplaced words
Directions lost
Conversations
Talked out but never resolution
Wonderings on who we are
Why we're here
What it's for
Time on clocks
Can't be turned back
What's past is gone
Reached a point of no return
Dreams unfulfilled
Whither and die
Or reach fruition
Become reality for some
For us if bravery prevails
Coming to terms
With shortcomings we may posess
Defining our own place
In life, in death, in time
Defining what it is
To have these human imperfections.
You don't stop laughing when you grow old; you grow old when you stop laughing.

I'll tell you a tale
That's nearly half true
'Bout a guy who got lost -
No, not in the loo -
But in ghost pages kept
Under firm lock and key
By our Clancy, the gate-keeper
Who keeps this place free
For all who may come here
Who want to learn more
'Bout music, and guitars
(And buy from the store!)
She has a collection
Of spammers and fools
Who thought it was clever
To resemble a tool (aussie slang)
Who post meaningless garbage
And pollute with their tripe
But what they don't know, is
We love a good fight
And take pleasure in torture
And to show off our might
They get banned in an instant
And get put in our slammer
To be dealt with at leisure -
So those unfortunate spammers
Get locked up in ghost pages
At her majesty's pleasure (Clancy)
And get stuck there for ages
Underground like lost treasure
While she plans their demise
With some suitable measure
For the ones we despise
That befits their foul crimes
There's no end to the means
Of disposal and banishment
Like was never before seenů.
Right now, I can't think of
The one I like best
But after Clancy is done
She throws us the rest
So I'm off now to imagine
The best way to be cruel
While reading the paper
And supping my gruel.

Well I managed to get to this page
It took a while, it took an age
Pressed the keys had a short wait
Then another and another and another short wait
Until I got to page fourty eight
The page it seems where this thread ends
Where I find the latest posts from friends
A fine rhyme awaited my arrival
So my act of technical survival
Paid off handsomely for me
My fingers ache from pressing keys
But I'm not a quitter no not me
The mystery it still remains
The ghostly pages beyond bounds
The ones that I cannot track down
I'm not dissuaded by minor glitches
My finger itches to write prose
So I'll overcome all of those
If one door closes I'll find another
I'm laidback, cool, I'm not that bothered
It's good to see the spammers gone
Banished to that land of spectres
They may have expected us to fold
But Clancy and the moderators
Showed bravery like Knights of old
Emboldened they strove fourth, defeated
All those spambots, they're deleted

Alas, forsooth, my rhymes completed. :winkthumb:
You don't stop laughing when you grow old; you grow old when you stop laughing.

The poem before the song...

Staring at the flickering screen
my eyes begin to numb
I go and grab some more caffeine
what have I now done
an office chair at home so plush
tucked in a corner space
just sitting here when came a rush
brought a smile right to my face
its 1 AM this days been long
its time I go to bed
I'll close this out with a new song
that just popped in my head

Kenny's got the rhyming gift
Never a truer word said
Even after a long day's shift
A rhyme, a song, and then bed.

Well said Kenny.

Nice one Kenny. I notice that you went to some effort to avoid the obvious rhyme of Carol/barrel. Thanks, its appreciated! :winkthumb:

Kirk may curse
And Kirk may moan
But no need to hide there
Under that stone.

Kirk is fair
And Kirk is modest
I can't speak for him
But I doubt he'd protest
:)

Here's a rhyme
That goes with 'Carol'
Don't know if it helps
But its 'apparel'

'Cask' and 'task' would rhyme OK
But 'barrel' and 'Carol' is not the way.
