Looking for feedback - Guitar styles forum

We're thinking of putting a new forum here - Guitar Styles.

All our forums are pretty general and it would be good to add a forum concentrating on different types of guitar styles.

Say for instance, slide guitar, classical, jazz etc.

Anyway, looking for some feedback on what guitar style forums you would like to see here and what they should be called before I go ahead and set it up.

Thanks

Clancy

Hi Clancy,

I still consider myself a beginner, so general is good enough for me... But I assume there are more advanced players who'll love it... Anyway, if you have a clear vision what would it look like, than add it... The more the better, that's what I'd say!

All best

jazz would be great. my only fear would be that i might concentrate on that forum and miss the other great cross over stuff. - stunt my growth.

A thumbpicking or Travis style section would be nice, but I may be in the minority on that one.

Thanks,

Bluegrass

I'd love to see a Metal part, but then again it could just be added to Rock, since there is barely no difference between the two as playing goes.

No! Not really! I would be interested and I think Kevin Bowling is interested....oops! Sorry if I'm speaking out of line there, Kev.
Anyway, Yeh! Travis style and Jazz ...........and yes!! without a doubt, blues.

Only issue I see is a personal one.....when to stop reading & listening to the stuff and go back to practicing!! HA!

I guess having styles that cover the broad spectrum of music would be advantageous to the forum.

For example, Blues, Jazz, Metal, Rock, Classical, etc!

They are really the primary genres, without going into sub-genres of metal (thrash, death, black, hair, etc) or Jazz (dixieland, traditional, modern, etc) and so on....

But it looks like a good idea Clancy!
I'm sure whatever you and Kirk come up with will be a winner!

I really want to learn all styles, especially "picking". I've been playing for 8 years now and most of the people I've played with reckon I'm an intermediate. I would strongly dispute that that because there are different styles that I havent even made the effort to explore, jazz is a style that I would love to have a go at but I have a fear of going into the unknown. I dont know hardly any jazz at all, and I know it goes hand in hand with my favorite genre "Blues". So bring it on Clancy! I'm up for anything that will enhance my playing.
