  A better guitar search engine

I'm trying to put together a better search here for the GfB&B site and am looking to build into it something that overcomes commonly misspelt words. Guitar related of course.

The only one I can think of right now is

cord instead of chord

... but I know I've noticed many more when reading through the posts here.

If anyone can think of any others, please post them in this thread and I'll add them in.

Thanks in advance. I've just gone completely blank.

Clancy

gauge is often spelled "gage" for string posts, base & bass, are two I can think of.

Squier guitars are often misspelt as "Squire".

Bar chord instead of Barre Chord is another one, I was called Stratsailor once but I quite like the sound of that

Can you run/make a program that list words that the GFB&B spell checker corrects?

but it still leaves out words that don't get spellchecked.

Thanks all... I'll add all those in.

Another one I thought of was tunning instead of tuning. That's one that I often notice.

I'm not sure I know what you mean by that 6string.

I'm going to add this thread as a sticky, just in case anyone else comes up with any others we could add in.

Cheers

Clancy

Rhyme is always tricky. 'To' when it should be 'too'. It's should have an apostrophe if its(!) short for 'it is' but I'm beginning to not bother because no-one seems to notice/care (including me). The smilie 'claping' should be 'clapping'. 'There' and 'their' can be mixed up if you're not concentrating.

Hi Carol,

I'm actually just after guitar related keywords to improve the search.

We can't really cover grammatical errors.

A lot of the common mistakes are typing errors, so down to proofreading rather than spelling mistakes, I've only seen a couple of incomprehensible posts most posts can be deciphered, think the brain can understand a word even if the spelling's wrong.

Misspellings or common typos. Both would be helpful.

I'll add cappo in Carol.

Thanks
