Burning Bridges

This is my latest offering , hope it reads to you as well as it reads to me ..

It's about a love that has gone wrong .......

Burning Bridges

Don't say you love me ,
When you know it's not true
Don't say you want me ,
I'll only leave you blue

I'm going to burn all my bridges
And throw your love away
I'm as cold as all the fridges
Don't care what you say

I never really loved you
Isn't that what people say
I never want to see you
I don't care what you say

(BRIDGE)
Just go and do your own thing
I won't get in your way
I'll pack up my belongings and my guitar
When your thinking of me , I'll be at the bar

Don't say you love me ,
When you know it's not true
Don't say you want me ,
I'll only leave you blue

I'm going to burn all my bridges
And throw your love away
I'm as cold as all the fridges
Don't care what you say

=====

All feed back is good feed back please be my guest and feed me back

Hey Hilch, I guess you're not writing songs to get chicks. And you're dispelling any myths that us guitar play'n dudes are sensitive types. Other than that, I can't wait to hear it put to music.

I'm 43 soon the chicks all grew up and become hens ( lol )

We are sensitive types but , there is always a bitter twisted one ( that's me lol )

It isn't directed at anyone in particular it just came to me

Inspiration came from Fleetwood Mac's" Don't say you Love me " , I listened to that the other night , the next morning this just started to pour out my mouth as I played some scales .

Will endevour to try to put music to it , but I'm not too good at that playing bit yet

Thanks for replying and reading

Hi Hilch

This looks pretty good. Still not sure about using fridges as a rhyme for bridges. There is another very good thread here somewhere about rhyming in lyrics and in this case you could probably get a better line using an implied rhyme which may not be an exact match, but sounds close enough to work when it is sung

For instance

I'm going to burn all my bridges
And throw your love away
Don't care about your wishes
Don't care what you say

just a thought.

Other than that it all works really well. Great theme

Cheers

Peter
