The Rockstar Trilogy (With some Chords)

This started off with one song about learning guitar and turned into this I'm afraid, I promise not to mention the word Rockstar again, I wrote the first one before Nickleback but they have more contacts than me (and are slightly more successful)

Here are some chords they actually (deliberately honest) match all three songs, so you can play the whole lot in one go if you're really keen or just pick one there's also a little bridge that can be put anywhere, hope they make sense I'm not God's gift to theory, there are a couple of swift changes on some of the ends of verses, the chorus is straight forward, feel free to play around with them, these can be played on the downstroke if anyones pretty new to guitar you'll get a good tune, they can be at a fast or slow tempo but fast is more fun, I look on these as a bit of fun really. There's a cool change on Hendrix even the Guys name is cleverer than me

VERSE = X221XX / XX22XX
CHORUS= X22XXX / XX22XX
BREAK = XX76XX / X55XXX

return from Break X55XXX ---- XX22XX then back to E X221XX

So hopefully we're in the Key of E

THE ROCKSTAR TRILOGY

I'M GONNA BE A ROCKSTAR

Verse 1

I bought myself a guitar
Don't know how to play
Want to be a Rockstar
Just like Jimmy Page

Verse 2

I got myself a tuner
A gigbag and a pick
The shop set it all up for me
They did it really quick

Chorus

I'm gonna be a Rockstar
Big respect I'll earn
I'll be a guitar hero
It ain't that hard to learn

Verse 3

Things haven't gone quite to plan
The Chords are hard to find
My fingers they are bleeding
And they have their own mind

Verse 4

I press down hard but it's just dead
I'm playing out of tune
My strumming hand
Goes down not up
My pick feels like a spoon

Chorus

I'm gonna be a Rockstar
Big respect I'll earn
I'll be a guitar hero
It ain't that hard to learn

Verse 5

I may need a rethink
It's harder than I thought
looked easier at concerts
Thought they were all self taught

Verse 6

I'm crawling up the fretboard
Santana class I'm not
The chords I've just remembered
I've already forgot

Chorus

If I'm gonna be a Rockstar
Play legendary licks
I'm gonna have to practice
To be as good as Hendrix

I'm gonna be a Rockstar
Big Respect I'll earn
I'll be a guitar hero
But it is hard to learn

NOW I AM A ROCKSTAR

Verse 1

Well Now I am a RockStar
And I have paid my dues
Once I had no dressing room
Now I can pick and choose

Verse 2

No more playing Butlins
Or smokey little Bars
Now I play in stadiums
Have the best guitars

Chorus

Yes now I am a Rockstar
This I deserve to be
I worked so hard to learn guitar
This is my destiny

Verse 3

I have a brilliant record deal
It's all expenses paid
Everything's laid on for me
They just want me to play

Verse 4

Surround myself with groupies
A different one each night
Have loads of friends that love me
Tell me I'm alright

Chorus

Yes now I am a Rockstar
This I deserve to be
I worked so hard to learn guitar
This is my destiny

Verse 5

I put on impressive shows
My fans they are amazed
My guitar solos legendary
They love to hear me play

Verse 6

It's everything I ever dreamed
The biggest star in town
And this will never end for me
They'll always love my sound

Chorus

Yes I am a Rockstar
This I deserve to be
I worked so hard to learn guitar
This is my destiny

I USED TO BE A ROCKSTAR

Verse 1

I used to be a Rockstar
Played in front of crowds
Wore pink spandex trousers
Played guitar very loud

Verse 2

I'd swing around the stage
Put on the best live shows
Sleep with loads of women
Put powder up my nose

Chorus

Oh I used to be a Rockstar
My name was up in lights
But now I play at Butlins
Fill in on bingo nights

Verse 3

My Fans they still adore me
But there's no fun and games
The hands that used to grab me
Now cling to Zimmer frames

Verse 4

I used to have a cigarette
Stuck in my guitar head
But now I hang a drip there
It stops me dropping dead

Chorus

Oh I used to be a Rockstar
My name was up in lights
But now I play at Butlins
Fill in on bingo nights

Verse 5

I now leave tips in hotel rooms
That once I used to trash
No tellies out of windows
I haven't got the cash

Verse 6

The Alcohol has turned my nose
A brighter shade of red
My groupie brings me cocoa
Then she tucks me up in bed

Chorus

Oh I used to be a Rockstar
My name was up in lights
But now I play at Butlins
Fill in on bingo nights

OhI used to be an Idol
But somehow lost my way
Now I am just like my fans
We've all seen better days

Chris,
Just call them the way you see them. I can enjoy all of them.
Put them to music and lets see how they come out.
In all I think they have a lot of humor and the results should be super.
Many genre available in good fun.

Thanks for having a look Eddiez, I have fun playing these and they're quite a good work out, when I read them I think they're funny but that the overall story is tinged with sadness so they're a bit of a Comic/tragedy, I'm quite pleased with these, I love songwriting, thanks for your comments Eddie

All the Best

Chris

Chris,
Music has the ability to make them happy or sad, and both at the same time interestingly enough.

That's true I think that what's so great about it, it can unlock many different feelings in people, that's why music is so special and why it's so rewarding learning how to play music

Clever idea. You have a lot of creativity. One particular good point is that the words don't seem contrived to make a rhyme, they seem like something someone would actually say.

There's a somewhat popular country song called 'Would You Catch a Falling Star?' that conveys a theme similar to your third one, so with the right producer and record label, you might become a rock star after all.

Thanks for your comments Johnnydox, I have lots of ideas but it takes a bit of time to make them into songs, I do try not to make them rhyme too much, it's not always easy to do so I'm pleased that you think about the songs that way as that's what I'm aiming for, songs are tricky as you need to do rewrites when you have a tune to go with them sometimes what looks good on paper doesn't translate too well when put to music, I might be a bit old now to be a Rockstar but it would be nice to get my songs out there, hopefully if I keep working at it that might happen, I'm an eternal optimist, hope you're well, reading your post has really made my day

All the Best

Chris
