Life gets in the way

Just wrote this so I thought I'd put it on, see what you think, all feedback welcome as usual, hope you like it

Life gets in the way

Verse 1

Livings kind of fun I do it every day
Just breathing is a pleasure
For me it's the only way
I wake up in the morning
A sunrise greeting me
Then I have my breakfast
And make a pot of tea
I look out of my window
See the songbirds hard at play
But then I spy the postman
Bringing me Bills to pay
Credit cards, amenities
And other such obscenities
Fall to the ground in front of me
And as I sip my cup of tea
I turn a shade of grey
And realize rose tinted eyes
Won't make life go away

Chorus

Life gets in the way
It happens every day
I'm enjoying living
But life gets in the way

Verse 2

Those neighbours that I sometimes get
Who came through the gates of hell
The daily paper that I read, nothing but kiss and tell
My well meaning mother in law
Who Invites herself for tea
Then stays for Months not days or hours
And just lives to lecture me
That person I've met in my local bar
Who's done it all and can't be beaten
He's got the Rolex, the Porsche car
Has loads of cash and went to Eton
Bores me rigid makes my heart sink
Then taps me up for one more drink
As I down another whisky
I turn a shade of grey
And realize rose tinted eyes
Won't make life go away

Chorus

Life gets in the way
It happens every day
I'm enjoying living
But life gets in the way

Verse 3

The household chores, and office bores
That want to be my friend
Driving the car in the rush hour
Going slowly round the bend
Endless texts on my mobile
Written in a secret code
The extortionate garage fee
When my stranded car gets towed
Queuing at the bus stop
For the bus that never showed
I still try and enjoy the World
At leisure when I play
But realize rose tinted eyes
Won't make life go away

Chorus

Life gets in the way
It happens every day
I'm enjoying living
but life gets in the way

Verse 4

You may not have such problems
Your life may be a breeze
Walk around oblivious
Believe the moon is made of cheese
But if you do you're not alone
We all may feel this way
And realize rose tinted eyes
Won't make life go away

Chorus

Life gets in the way
It happens every day
I'm enjoying living
but life gets in the way

Nice start Chris...luv the mother in law lines{}
Get that studio up and running so we can hear it/them!

edit...maybe? just a thought, but maybe try and cut each verse in half with out losing the message, just seems like it's going to be quite long this way.

I' like it a lot starsailor. You have wrote a song about me. I reckon X4 is right though, try cutting the verse down.

Now when I talk to God he said he'd understand, Stick by me I'll be your guiding hand. But don't ask me what I think of you. I might not give the answer you want me to.

Some very nice lines there ss. I like the first line a lot. Also
Driving the car in the rush hour
Going slowly round the bend

I thought you lived in secluded sunny Cornwall, in a quaint village, in a house with a walled rose-garden and a pond??

Yeah it does go on a bit, it's a bit like me when I start moaning, I'll try and sharpen it up Thanks for having a look Kenny and for the feedback that's cool (winkthumbs are on special offer today)

Hey Aunt Doty hope you're well, I was going to use rose tinted glasses but just used the eyes for a bit of a twist and tied it in with realize, I think I just took the easy way out as I couldn't find a neat way to tie up glasses but I'm open to ideas

Hi Doug, I'm glad you could relate to it but I hope you don't get too much hassle, I will try and cut it down a bit, I played one of my old tunes with it but it felt like it was never going to end if I was playing it live the only person left would be the cleaner, the audience would all be tucked up in bed

Thanks Windsong, that's what I try to achieve with some of my songs, so that's a nice compliment to get, appreciate that comment a lot

I do Carol, I haven't got that many Roses but I am in the middle of nowhere and I have the wall and the pond, the problems start when I go out, apart from the Mother in law who I have no control over

Here's a tip. Take one wall (sturdy and not in the house) plus a bolt with ring, plus manacles and a chain. She can enjoy the view and smell the roses. How considerate is that???

You are on fire this weekend, nice job. Love the sentiments of the lyrics and the way that you express the feelings.

Chris,
If this were going commercial, edits may be necessary. But if your goes the funny and delightful route, every one would have fun listening to the lines and more to a point.
I think your writings are blooming.

Chris,
I gonna play around with this for my own enjoyment. Should it become a file, I will send it to you via email. Would not want to disappoint you in the public eye.

Thanks Eddie, that's a good way to go and it suits the lyrics, thanks for the songwriting comment I do put a lot of thought into it doesn't always work but every song gets 100%
