Pass It Over Here

yup i got another, i think i should write a book haha. thanks for listening/reading guys.

The government man will only tell lies,
He will sensationalize, but we must arise.
We must stand and arise to decriminalize.
Jah knows it’s time to take all the reefer,
Pack a bowl and pass it over here!

Babylon man will push his pharmaceuticals,
Just because the money he can make.
But the danger causes them kids to fall, yeah.
Please mister listen it is time for you to awake.
Think for yourself and see it is okay to bake.
Think for yourself and see everyman should partake.

The government man will only tell lies,
He will sensationalize, but we must arise.
We must stand and arise to decriminalize.
Jah knows it’s time to take all the reefer,
Pack a bowl and pass it over here!

You know the Rasta man can go to jail for life.
Just ‘cause the plant, he don’t cause no strife.
I and I see the people dying in the streets,
But mister police only fighting all the weed.
Is there truly a need when innocent still bleed?
We can all fight this senseless oppression.
Just roll up a blunt and have you a smoke-session.

The government man will only tell lies,
He will sensationalize, but we must arise.
We must stand and arise to decriminalize.
Jah knows it’s time to take all the reefer,
Pack a bowl and pass it over here!
Yeah, pack a bowl and pass it to me please!

Ah ha MidnightRider, now its starting to make sense why I was having a hard time understanding your lyrics, you don't have to bong me over the head to get it now. Thanks for being blunt with this one, I was beginning to get all out of joint trying to grasp these lyrics of yours. It was high time I figured it out. Might go well in the doobie brothers style. Yep... lyrics, either say what you want or get off the pot.

Now this one I can understand...I am not sure of some of the references (Jah and Babylon Man) but the core of the lyrics are very clear. Reminds me of the protest songs of the 60's, in particular Country Joe and the Fish, Fixin to Die Rag.

Jah is a reference to god, jesus, or haile sellesse(possible reincarnation of JC). and Babylon is kinda a synonym for western culture(kinda). They are from Rastafi beliefs, which i have been researching and getting into now.

This is a cool song with a clear message MidnightRider and a good description of institutional hypocrisy, a lot of people get badly screwed up on prescription drugs and it is very easy to become dependent on them. This song does a good job of addressing a big debate will you do it straight reggae or something else.

well i like to blend blues and reggae and maybe throw in some slide or psychedelics at times. but I plan on startign a band w/ some friends, one sings and plays harmonica and the other plays guitar, but is very into Santana, Clapton and Blue Oyster Cult and were still looking for bassist, drummer, pianist/keyboardist/organist, sax player, and percussion player so who knows how it will come out because i like to mix everyone's influences and get soemthing totally new.

but if i record a version myself first it'll be more reggae than anything.
