The Internet

I was on a thread discussing the internet, and this song popped into my head, only lighthearted but I thought I'd post it, all feedback welcome, if you like it and you've got a tune have a go
If it's too risque mods. feel free to remove it but it's meant in the best spirit.

The Internet

Thought that I'd try something new
Went on the internet
My original intention was to get my girl a dress
I thought it would impress her
All I got was a shock
Staring at me from the screen
Was some guy in a posh frock

The internet, the internet
A sad sign of our times
My searches all get blogs and freaks
Spammers committing crimes

I was searching for a leather belt
I felt it was no harm
But sado-masochists came up
That didn't make me calm
I found a link eventually
Ten pages down the line
They only sold to weightlifters
I'm only 6 stone nine

The internet, the internet
A sad sign of our times
My searches all get blogs and freaks
Spammers committing crimes

I realize the worlds moved on
Technology's changed life
But as much as I like Women
I'm scared to put in HouseWife
The internet's a crooked road
So travel it with care
And please don't even think about
A search for underwear

The internet, the internet
A sad sign of our times
My searches all get blogs and freaks
Spammers committing crimes

Not a bad start Chris, needs some polishing especially the first verse unless I'm reading it wrong. Looks like you either left out a line or didn't break them up properly{never cared for that centering on the page stuff myself}

The only other change I would make is in the chorus..I would use "where" instead of "my" being you used "our" in the previous line, just my opi.

BTW Whats "6 stone nine" for us who have no clue...I'm guessing 109 pounds? lol

Good one, starsailor ...

14 lbs to a stone, X4SD, so 93 lbs.

Hi Kenny, I must confess I rushed this a bit, the first verse sings something like this

Thought that I'd try something new
Went on the internet
My original intention was
to get my girl a dress
I thought it would impress her
All I got was a shock
Staring at me from the screen

After I posted I looked at that line and it didn't make sense to me either but when I played it I realized what I'd done wrong, I've still got a problem with the last line that didn't fit so well when I sang it.

I agree about the chorus, I could drop the first word altogether or use where but the My is unnecessary, thanks for having a look, I might post a recording of this it's only 4 chords. with a little bridge between the chorus and the next verse. and a couple of fills, it's pretty basic. so could probably do with spicing up a bit.

Great feedback, here's the chords, this has got to be the worst bit of tabbing I've ever seen. Hope it makes sense

Sorry about the weight thing, Kilos didn't fit and I'm a bit old fashioned, I think we're the only Country in Europe still allowed to use pounds and ounces, every one else is fully Metric.

Verse

---------- ----------
---------- ----------
---------- ----2-----
---------- ----2-----
----2----- ----------
----2----- ----------
---------- ----------

Chorus

---------- ---------
-----3---- ---------
-----2---- ----2----
---------- ----2----
---------- ---------
---------- ---------

Bridge

---------- ---------
---------- ---------
---1------ ---2-----
---2------ ---2-----
---2------ ---------
---------- ---------

All the Best

Chris

Thanks for having a look Kirk, pleased you liked it, I'm a bit heavier than 6 stone 9 but it fitted, I think they call that artistic license

Best Wishes

Chris

Thanks Kirk for the math lesson

Chris, I thought that was where your verse was going but I wasn't positive..thanks for clearing it up for me. BTW kilos and kilometers is about as far metric as I can go..math was never a favorite subject for me. Look forward to hearing this from you.

Hi Kenny, I see what you mean about the centre, it does make lyrics look a bit messy, a bit over the top on presentation I just did a recording (to my usual high standard), it sounds quite good but I've got to lift the singing a bit, I used where instead of my, flowed a lot better.
I just heard Eddiez take on your Hollywood song it's brilliant, that must make you feel good.

Very much Chris, Eddie sure has some fine talent, its quite the honor having him do justice to my lyrics.

So are you ready to post your tune or is it in work-up still?

I've got to lift the vocals a bit as I'm still not putting enough effort into them, I can send you an MP3, if you want an idea of what it sounds like

I'm on take 2 so I'll see how it goes, I've just retuned my guitar as the first take was a bit out of whack, I think this ones due a trip to the luthier, I'll have to switch guitars for a couple of weeks
