The Beans Song

Here are some lyrics for a song. A kind of campfire anthem. And before anyone even thinks otherwise, I really do like beans, and that is the inspiration for the song. I have thought twice about posting this (being a moderator and all!) because I can see the temptations here, so if any other mods think it should be deleted, fair enough.

Please try and keep your comments under control (my reputation at risk!) - it really is a song about beans and a 'good fun' sing-a-long. I 'see' it at a campfire song where anyone can make up additional verses if the want (although probably not here on the forum).

I hope someone will come up with a tune and some vocals.

The Beans Song.

1
I like beans
Any beans‘ll do
Baked beans, broad beans
Runner beans too.

2
Cook ‘em up with bacon
Stick ‘em in a stew
Put ‘em in a meat pie
Any beans’ll do.

3
Beans’ll go with anything
Gives yer man a boost
Makes him kinda special
Brings him home to roost.

4
I like baked beans
Straight from can to pan
Makes me kinda special too
I eat 'em when I can.

5
I like tomatoes...
Not as much as beans
Beans’ll keep you home at night
Beans’ll fill your dreams.

6
What makes beans so special?
The questions clear, my friend
But when it comes to answers...
They’re blowing in the wind.

You can easily substitute 'gal' for 'man' verse 3 and 'her' for 'him' where necessary.

Sure thing, eddie, it's weekend, and roast turkey for dinner....I know how to live the high life

If anyone wants to add a tune and vocals, I can move this thread to the Collab section rather than start a new thread over there.

Well done Carol!
Lyrics are quite funny.

Thanks Neil. We have a saying in our house that goes, "That was quite, but not very, funny!" so you would fit right in

Good to see another song from you Carol, like you say a good old campfire song, has a sort of Woody Guthrie old time American folk/ Bluegrass feel to it would sound good with a Banjo in the mix.

I was going to say something funny but you handed the opportunity to us on a plate so I'll pass on that one

Nice One

Chris

Hey Chris, funny is good, I didn't mean to 'censor' humour, I just didn't want to encourage people to get carried away too far by an obvious opportunity!

My post to Neil made me think I should clarify how jokes are 'judged' in our house....
‘That’s quite, but not very, funny’ is high praise indeed. (Thanks Neil). It’s only one grade below ‘Falling about, helpless with mirth’ which is as good as it gets (10 out of 10). Naturally that is not often achieved.

Even a groan is a ‘good result’ in my book but you have to make sure it is accompanied by a grin (not a scowl). Even silence is good if they can’t hide a grin in spite of themselves. Hmmm, I hadn’t really thought that through before.

By the way, Kenny, your ‘Christ, is that singing?’ line got a 10 out of 10 from everyone here!

Glad you liked that one, it came to me in a moment of pure inspiration - even made me smile - did it remind you of anyone?

I know I am....and proud!

As far as bad wind jokes go, I'm not sure where the no-go line is either, seems to be OK so far.
