New to the art of finger picking

I was recently surfing Youtube, looking for awesome music, and I suddenly came across Andy Mckee, Don Ross, and Antonie Dufour. Clear to say, I found my new "Idols" of guitar (Although I still enjoy Hendrix and Page ^_^). These guys seem to be on another level all together when it comes to music and I want learn how to play this...fast, furious finger style guitar that leaves mes be in awe. I've never tried finger style except messing around but I want to know, what is the best way to practice? I use all my fingers right now, my Thumb for the Low E and A and my other 4 for DGBE. How can I maximize my practice time?

Its usually standard fingerstyle technique to use your thumb for E, A, & D and your index, middle, and ring for G, B, E(high)
The Spanish letters of P I M A are often used

I've learned a lot of fingerstyle by learning many of the tunes published in Fingerstyle Magazine (do a web search to find their website). The best thing about the mag is the included CD with the songs recorded on it. That way you get to hear what it's supposed to sound like. Check it out.

The GfB&B Guitar Slide Rule

Download the PDF of the 'Guitar Chord Slide Rule', print it out, fold it together and you'll have at your disposal a very neat tool that will not only show you all the positions for the main flavors of chords, but will also teach you a very important lesson about how the guitar works... It consists of a folded sleeve and six double sided inserts, instructions for cutting it out and folding it together are included with the PDF ... it's very simple to do, and if you botch it, you can simply print it out again!

Buy it now for only $10
