Cant stop playing

I really love playing the guitar, man why didnt I started playing before when I was a kid, Im 21 now and I played for over a year now. I always get this infinite feeling of satisfaction and joy whenever I hold my guitar and play it, thats why everyday, I must play for at least 3 hours. I feel empty without playing a single day, my mom told me that I was possessed by the guitar hehehe, but its really fun when you found a passion in something you really really want and theres a bunch of songs I want to play, maybe if this goes on, I may write my own songs

Welcome to the club, Ironcloud! Be happy that you are fortunate enough to have found a passion in life (and one that doesn't put you in jail), there are plenty of people in the world who never have a passion for anything, and they stumble through life looking for something to make it all seem worthwhile. Music can always be with you and you can take a guitar with you almost anywhere.....what could be better than that

It's great that you have a passion for your instrument, because with that passion you can achieve anything along with determination.

I think many of us often wish we started playing earlier or didn't take a break for years before coming back to it. I believe when we experience what you are right now, the enthusiasm and passion, then this point in time is the right time for you to be playing.
Your words are good medicine for me and others I dare say. If ever I forget or lose something special with guitar, I'll simply remember your words to remind me of how it can feel.

Yeah...don't feel too bad about wanting to start earlier. I'm turning 44 on Tues....and am just NOW really starting again to try to learn to play. I've had guitars around me since 13...but, a lesson session here and there...and then forget it again for years. Over the years...I've collected equipment...but, no good continuous learning, practicing or playing..and it kills me whenever I slow down again...and see the guitar and pick it up again. I often joke I own more guitars than I know chords...

I'm trying again to play again...is tough with jobs, commutes, workouts at gym..etc. It is a shame we only have 24 hours in a day. So, keep it up..especially while being young...before more life responsibilities kick in to 'steal your time'.

And also.....congrats on finding something to be passionate about...that makes life fun and worthwhile..there is plenty out there that can be a grind...nothing like music and the guitar to be that outlet to get through a tough day...or to express joy on a really good one.

Keep it up.....and as they say "practice till your fingers bleed".

I'm starting again to try to live by the advice I give...
:-)

I feel exactly the same. I have had my gee-tarr for 7 months and I cant stop playing it. The missus doesnt feel as passionate but that is probably because I spend more time practising than with her.

I feel I have found a happy medium with my practising now. A good balance which means I can squeeze an hour a day practice in without jepardising my forthcoming marriage this year

Same here. Had it for about two months now and even though I play every day I still play till I get blisters.

I have been seriously playing for only 4 months myself. I am now 38 and I also wish I started earlier. I had the opportunity for free lessons right in my own home when I was a young teen too. My Dad was a guitarist in a jazz band with his brothers. He offered to teach me chords and songs but I wanted to play nothing but Maiden, Priest and AC/DC. Hindsight is 20/20. But I am enjoying the hell out of it now.
