I have a question....?

Hi there

I asked this little question in my into - but It may have gotten overlooked
and I really was curious...

I listened to "cshude" Greensleeves Posted three weeks ago and I am in awe and now very sad.... I am sure I can NEVER do that. IS that played on a 12 string?? and How do you make it sound as though two notes are played at the same time?? IS it fingered or using a pick... I listened over and over and over... I am humbled.....

Thanks
Sheila - aka Witchblade

The best person to answer your question is the man himself...cshude.

But no doubt he's fingerpicking and using his thumb, index, middle, and ring fingers on his picking hand. That's why he's able to pick two or more notes at the same time.
Also from the sound of it, it's being played on a six string acoustic.

He certainly did a wonderful job on "Greensleeves" didn't he?

Hope that helps!

Thanks Neil....

I was hoping that cshude would see my post, accept my backwards but heartfelt compliment and pops in an answer....

I am just so new did not want to bother him specifically...especially if the questions were a little dumb...

And As I had also hoped that anyone not so green as me would know the answer to some of my questions - and you did so - THANX for replying ....

Sheila

Hey
Feel free to ask the 'dumb' questions - that is how you will learn, and there are some very helpful/knowlegable people on here, who will be only to happy to answer.

I think we were all impressed with Cshude's version of Greensleeves - and for different reasons too. For me it was the tone he got that was full of old-world charm and also the way he varied the verses to keep it fresh and interesting.
Keep asking exactly those kinds of questions, Sheila. Your questions and comments are always welcome.

I really appreciate the compliments and am humbled by them! The song was played on a six-string acoustic (my Larrivee D03) fingerstyle, with a capo at the 4th fret. I used Kirk's lesson here on the site as the starting point for my arrangement and added my own little touches to it. What you can't tell from listening is that I practiced the song on a pretty regular basis for about 4 or 5 months to get it to where I was pretty pleased with it. And, as others have stated, you CAN and you WILL get to the point of playing pieces like this if you keep at it!

I'm happy to answer any questions anyone has, although I am certainly not an expert. Thanks again for the compliments and sorry I didn't see them in your intro thread.
