I remember that happening. I can't remember how long it was since starting; a few weeks?; a couple months? Just kept on playing and it didn't happen again. Dunno, though, I've never played much more than an hour at a time.

I wouldn't worry, WTouch. They'll probably just flake for awhile then settle down. Unless they start hurting, I'd just keep playing, but maybe not quite as much for the time being. My calluses stayed in place; just a little "shredding" around the edges for a couple of weeks. Figured I'd have to change strings, though!

That's OK WTouch that happens sometimes, especially if you're at it 6+ hours a day. Don't worry, it's just old skin coming off not the calluses themselves.

6+ hours a day ?! How much free time do you have?
I usually play guitar for 2-3 hours a day (including a time that I spend on theory and things like that).
I'm sure you have some practicing schedule. Can you post it? I want to compare it with my practicing schedule.

Sounds sad to me ...
I always thought that I don't have a life. Life is boring when you live in the village, like I do. You have only two or three people to hang around with.
I can say I understand you.
---
I don't want to be sad, I'm 13, a whole life is in front of me. (I usually have hard time writing English so I don't know if you understand what I want to say...)

Mine constantly fall off, at first they start coming off at the edges then the strings tend to pull the rest of it off . So after just over a year of almost playing daily I still have to build them up every 3 weeks or so, if I have a big practice session or playing with my band i now glue them in place to prevent the pain and sometimes even deep open cracks.

I've been playing 15 years and I end up having to buff my calluses with a nail file pretty regularly or I'll have mine peel. Tends to happen when I get a stretch where I can play for extended periods of time.

My son just looked at my fingertips tonight, saw deep ridges, hard skin, and said... "Gross." So, mangled fingers are part of the deal! But once your fingers are hardened, on the positive side, it will be much easier to play clean sounding chords!

The GfB&B Guitar Slide Rule
Download the PDF of the 'Guitar Chord Slide Rule', print it out, fold it together and you'll have at your disposal a very neat tool that will not only show you all the positions for the main flavors of chords, but will also teach you a very important lesson about how the guitar works... It consists of a folded sleeve and six double sided inserts, instructions for cutting it out and folding it together are included with the PDF ... it's very simple to do, and if you botch it, you can simply print it out again!
