Never Going Back Again- Slide >:(

Ok...been working on Lindsey Buckingham's/Fleetwood Mac's- Never Going Back Again..
(recorded version from Rumors..not the live) Anyhoo....

I LOVE this song and I have a lot of it down, but there is a slide in there that I just cannot seem to hit....the problem is that for this part you play two strings on the third fret...then slide just one to the fifth...make sense?? If I could write tab I could explain it better.

Is this something that will come with time or am I just making it too hard for myself?

I really enjoy this piece and want to record it, but until I get that right.........

http://www.guitaretab.com/f/fleetwood-mac/6484.html this is the tab I am working with...there's a lot of different versions out there....it is the 7th measure I am referring to. Maybe this is bad tab?? Anyone know of a better version??

Help?

I hope I put this in the right category..if not, Mods kindly move

I tried it two ways. I can do it with my first finger holding one string and holding, then sliding my third finger up from the 3 to 5 fret. If you have a good stretch you can do it with the second finger instead of the third. It comes with time, I guess.

I tried this out of interest, and played according to the tab as follows:

make your G shape as if you were strumming, but only play 1st finger (a G onthe E string) and third finger (D on the B string) together -> let go of G shape, at the same time leaving third finger on slidiing to 5th fret -> then use your first finger to play the 3rd fret (D) and open D double stop at the end of the measure.

This puts your first finger in the right area to move along to the first fret for playing the C part of the next measure (you can be forming your C shape while you are playing the the double stop - ready to place down to start the next measure.

That worked for me - if you can make sense of it!

Dear D-dawn, i think thats the same situation as when someone tells you draw a circle using your left hand while simultaneously drawing a square using your right. You just need to get used to "multitasking your fingers" .

Whats black and white, and white and black, and black and white. A zebra in a revolving door.

Hi D-Dawn

I`ve attatched another tab that I think simplifies the song a bit. It does involve detuning the E and A strings which may be a bit of a pain to setup, but means that you don`t need to worry about fretting notes on them for most of the time.

For you troublesome slide, it uses 2 notes rather than the one you had trouble with.

HTH

No worries D-Dawn - I got it from www.powertabs.net a site I recommend for anybody looking for decent tab. You need to register and download a free tab editor programme to view the tabs, but it`s worth it IMHO. In addition, you can listen to the tab in MIDI and follow it on screen as it plays which I find really helps the learning process.
