Big E in tune but sounds too heavy

I noticed that while playing the fret lessons that my Big E sounds like its a lot more basier than I would think would be right.. I have tuned it and everything I have says that the string is in tune, but it just sounds really deep to me. Is this normal or is something else going on there that I am not aware of?

Its a Fender Strat.

Any information would be helpful.

Btw thank you for pointing out that lesson... really helped a lot, can't believe I missed that Fingerstyle Accom.

Noodle with the volume controls on your axe and amp. You might be overdriving your guitar just enough to get the bass strings to distort.
The big E string is usually referred to as the low E since it has a low pitch, the high E is the opposite because of it's high pitch.

You can also tweak the positioning of your pickups a bit as well, raising and lowering each side to taste.

Good recommendations will definatly try out at least the amp one... not to confident with the whole adjusting of pickups and such, but that could also be a reason.

couldnt u take the 6th string off and adjust the hight of the string too, that would change the position on how high or low the string sits from the pickup. Just an idea. If you have the strings cut dont take it off tho, you'll never get it back on, i made that mistake by accident one time and it made me quite mad

You mean like raising or lowering the bridge?

If your amp has tone/EQ knobs, you may also want to try turning the bass down, or the tone toward the right.

Its not something silly like a different gauge string? If its been setup wrong, or brought somewhere cheap, they might have just grabbed any old strings they ahd, and thrown one on it....
Just a thought

Thanks for all the recommendations, the guitar was setup good though, have a good local shop, and the guy does really good work.

I have super slinks on it(orange) I like the way the strings feel.

I had to play with the amp a bit, it doesn't sound as heavy anymore it may have been some overdrive. Its still there a lil bit, maybe change out the pickup or maybe its just me being overcritical.

Maybe its time to put new strings on it, cause I do play the low E alot so maybe I'm wearing it down.
