as wjp01908 said to me, in my post about blues (dont get me started on it ) in this thread Silly Blues Questions

A/// A/// A/// A///
D/// D/// A/// A///
E/// D/// A/// E///
is a typical blues progression....
which translates into
I///I///I///I///
IV///IV///I///I///
V///IV///I///IV///

which is a I, IV, V progression (god i feel celver sayin that , and i bet ive typoed something and made a complete idiot outa meself) so yer can swap that to any key you wish (any key? wheres the any key, god help me)

My first lesson with a guitar teacher, he showed me 12 Bar Blues. It's pretty easy to get started on (though my pinky is not liking holding that string down!) Sounds nice, not too hard to play (i've only been at this a week, so I still mess it up now and again. And I'm SSSLLLOOOWWWW to move from fret to fret, so it doesn't sound that great!)

I would feel better if I had noticed the spelling or the grammer. Doh.

There are quite a few simple "blues progressions" you can pick up from books on blues bass guitar. Take for example a song like "Tore Down". The bass line in that song is used quite a few blues songs.

Here's a bit of it:

Intro
G|----------------------------55-33-------55-33----|
D|----55-33-------33-11-------------55----------55-|
A|----------55----------31-33----------33----------|
E|-33----------11----------------------------------|
