Double stop question
o.k a quick question. I am having a go at dadi marcel's "lady madonna"
The double stops at the beginning, on the A & D strings 0-2, 0-2, 3-2, 4-2
How does everybody ..esp Kirk, play these?
I use my thumb and index, my housemate uses her thumb to strum them both and a friend uses his thumb and middle..is there a "proper" way to play this..just wondering.
Cheers.

If by proper, you mean the way it was played in the original, you would have to listen to the original. You should be able to tell if it was strummed or picked. It is more common to use thumb and index finger though whatever works best for you is fine IMO.

Oh good, so I don't have to change my style then.
I have never actually heard the recorded version of Dadi Marcel- lady madonna, I only have the music for it, so I have no idea how sounds being played properly. I have searched high and low for a copy, I just play it from the sheet and listen to the beatles original piano for the groove.

Hi Darcy.
I made it a habit years ago to play everything in as many ways as possible. There are no right/wrong ways. As you get deeper and deeper into playing and moving away from set pieces to simply playing, you'll find that the way you play something depends on the moment: where you have just come from and where you heading determine just how you're going to finger something. So, try as many ways as you can; you'll find you settle into a couple of favorites, but it's good to train your hand to adapt to any choice ...

The GfB&B Guitar Slide Rule
Download the PDF of the 'Guitar Chord Slide Rule', print it out, fold it together and you'll have at your disposal a very neat tool that will not only show you all the positions for the main flavors of chords, but will also teach you a very important lesson about how the guitar works... It consists of a folded sleeve and six double sided inserts, instructions for cutting it out and folding it together are included with the PDF ... it's very simple to do, and if you botch it, you can simply print it out again!
